This store is excellent for a small town store. Its the only one for miles around. I have shopped here for many years whenever I am in the area. It is locally owned and the owners really care about their customers and the quality of their products. The produce is fresh. Their Moto "Best Meats on the Coast" is really true! They have a new store manager who is excellent! One day I wanted to buy this Greek yogurt (PLAIN ONLY) that was on sale in the weekly AD but they didn't have any so instead the Store Manager himself came & substituted several single 5oz of the more expensive Chobani plain yogurts to equal the quart. Now That's Great Customer Service! I am from up north originally and I am not used to everyone being so nice. Everyone is friendly and polite. From the cashiers & deli, to customer service & even the people that bag the groceries for you. You will never get that kind of customer service at Wal-Mart even if you can ever find someone to help you at all. The prices are even better at the Piggly Wiggly (than Wal-Mart) on most things and competitive with almost everything (and believe me because I comparison shop & buy everything on sale or the least expensive per oz). They have a great selection for the size of the store & the city but they have started an expansion project that should be completed soon. They will have an even broader selection ( they do have a lot of organic gluten free and health foods already, even live plants & beach/fishing toys & gear). I am very excited about the large...
Read moreThis is the 4th time I’ve been to the deli. Every time it was a disaster. The last time I went we wanted some chicken. The women that waited on us was extremely rude. When we told her we wanted 16 pieces she snapped at us and said rudely “well, did you call in a order?” I said no I didn’t. She said well, we don’t have any if you want to wait it will be 15 mins. If not, you’ll have to get something else. The time before that we wanted 3# of cheese. We told her we wanted it just in a chunk and if it was over or under 3# that’s fine. She said “I can’t do that, it has to be sliced”. We asked why and she said that’s how they sell it. Then she went to talk to someone else at the deli. She came back and told us to come back tomorrow because the deli was closing. It was 10 mins before closing but we were upset and left. Today we went back to buy the fried chicken. There was a lady in front of me and 4 more people behind me. The women tending the hot food self serve deli was over talking to another person behind the cheese and meat deli. She would glance at us but just continued talking for over 5 minutes. It did not seem to be business related. The rest in line were getting disgusting as was I. I left my whole cart there and walked out. Never again! We would rather make a trip to Panama...
Read moreWhile in Mexico Beach for vacation,I needed a "real"grocery store to get my items. This store is NOT what I call good.Their supply is very limited and the store itself is ancient. The stores overall feel is dark and dingy and feels like it should have been renovated years ago.The smell alone screams old. This is not like a publix or a winn dixie. I have heard from the locals that the owners of "The Pig" named Durien have had an ongoing "contract" with the city, to be the only large grocery store in the area. Meaning no Walmart , Publix or Winn Dixie will make it near here anytime soon. I feel bad for the people of this area, because they are forced to live and shop back in time with older stores such as this. The town itself feels like you've been thrown back in time, Which may be a good thing from a certain point of view , but come on .It's 2016 get with the times or PSJ will end up being just another run down town. The only other option is to head west on Highway 98 past TAFB to get to the big chain stores where you can find what you really need , not IGA brand ,high calorie bad foods. some people MAY like this kind of thing, but being a Vegetarian or a vegan, you will find nothing here to support your way of life. Good Luck and Happy...
