Shores & Islands Ohio — Attraction in Portage Township

This is a great visitor center. I stopped here while driving in Catawba because I thought I’d check it out. I walked in and all of the visitor center’s exhibits, which include a proofs of the Marblehead Lighthouse that’s as tall as a person and a model of the front of a wooden ship labeled U.S.S. Lawrence. If you walk inside of the ship, you can see a large sign explaining things about Perry’s Victory and International Memorial, which is home to the third tallest monument in the country, being only behind the Washington Monument and St Louis Arch. After I went in the ship, I went to the part of the visitor center where there’s an information desk and several promotional flyers about local businesses in the area. After looking at those, I left the visitor center, satisfied with my experience. I gave this visitor center five stars because it has nice exhibits...

The one place you need to stop if you’re in the Port Clinton area on vacation! Amazing interactive displays for young and old alike to experience. Friendly helpful staff that will answer all your questions about what places are the best to visit in the area. Very clean inside around displays and well kept, clean public restrooms. Lake Erie Shores and Islands will have a current calendar of events in the area so you can know exactly what is happening. You can pick up a travel guide or brochures from any area attractions while inside, or order a travel guide from their website. This place easily deserves all 5 stars. Such an impressive visitors center with all the exhibits and information available. Spoke with the girls working the desk about making sure the hours get corrected on the Google page, it was reading closed, but they in fact open on Saturday from 9am - 2pm. I was able to get some more information about future trips to the area. The restroom facilities was nice and clean. Glad I didn't miss out on this even though it stated closed and I...
