We were there for a Bach Virtuosi concert. The acoustics were pretty good. Architecturally it's a very attractive shul.

A wonderful museum (and functional synagogue) with a very warm and outgoing staff. I thoroughly enjoyed (and was very moved) by the current traveling exhibit they have at the museum, Holocaust Heroes: Fierce Females, a unique series of tapestries which is a wonderful tribute to several females who are true heroes, that made a difference both during and after the war. They also have a few plaques detailing personal accounts of several Holocaust survivors. Be sure to read a few of these when you visit. This is a small exhibit but well worth the time to visit, and is free...

Wonderful traditional Jewish center from 1921. Fully rehashed and inviting, with its own historical galleries, and artwork in its Museum. A must visit for all Jewish visitors to Portland, and their Christian friends. Still conducts Orthodox, Conservative, and Reformed services. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly . Go There A Learn something good about your own people...
