I will start off with the bad, but there is also good. Housekeeping needs to be completely retrained. The shower leaked water out into the hallway, and I’m lucky that I didn’t slip and seriously hurt myself. When I mopped up the water, the towel was completely stained in dirt which means that housekeeping is not cleaning this floor, which is really gross. I opened up the sofa bed and there was somebody’s food and food wrappers inside and around it. Just not acceptable for a hotel room not to be thoroughly clean. I also pulled out a blanket and that was covered in somebody else’s hair . Yeah eww. I understand and can tell they put a lot of money into redoing this historical building, but something needs to be done about the windows locking and weatherproofing, but more importantly the doors to the hallway allow every single ounce of noise to come right through because they are not fitted properly as you could see in the picture. It is extremely loud in the rooms because there are large gaps on all four sides of the doors. The maids & guests make a very large amount of noise in the hallways. There is a lot of banging and slamming first thing in the morning. On a positive note the customer service at the front desk and the valet are exceptional. Extremely professional and hospitality driven. Christian and Zach in the valet department are wonderful and the women at the front desk are very accommodating. Update: although I was not happy with the housekeeping and some of the guests slamming doors repeatedly, I really have to say honestly that I will indeed stay here again. The location was just undeniable. The front desk treated me so so well and let me change rooms when I wasn’t happy. They went above and beyond to make sure that I had a good stay. Just the convenience of this hotel and the history that goes with it have changed my mind and I will definitely stay here again. As stated before the one and only thing I was really unhappy with was the housekeeping, but the hotel overall is excellent and I’ll be...
Read moreI booked a king room with a balcony and spa treatment a month in advance for my 2 year anniversary. Initially I had to chase the front desk for an email confirmation, strange. I arrived to not a king with a balcony. The desk while rather condescending was gracious enough to change my room to what I had already reserved a month earlier for a $50 a night upgrade fee. I didn't want the drama so I took it happily, it's our anniversary. The next room was filthy, food on the carpet, the coffee machine and area was also filthy, the ceiling in the shower was falling in, the mirrors had finger prints all over, and the walls had stains and I know it's the city but our ocean view was actually an alley with a parking garage and dumpsters. There was supposed to be robes and a cheese and champagne tray, the tray was there because we carried it room to room ourselves. So we called the desk again and we were off to yet another room. What delights were waiting for us there? I'll tell you what. Well halfway through cleaning the disgusting keurig, we drink allot of coffee, my wife decided to use the facilities and upon lifting the lid was greeted with what could only be described as fecal abstract art on the seat. Now I am an art lover but this Poocasso was the last straw. Mercedes, the manager, sent someone up with cleaning wipes and they handed them to me at the door and left. Immediately we called the desk and were told we should find another hotel because clearly they couldn't make us happy!!! Really? All they needed to do was honor the reservation as it was initially requested. I found that the reason I had to chase them for the confirmation email was because they changed the king balcony to a standard king. I didn't notice. They sent it after the second call a week later. We left and happy to do so. So just pay attention to all the bad reviews they are there for a reason. Happy anniversary the beginning of my picture roll is...
Read moreI can’t say enough good things about the Portland Regency hotel. The Regency truly feels like a home away from home with staff that greets you like family! Not only is the Regency great for business travel but it is also one of the best places to consider having a wedding at. I recently got married on the rooftop that they own at 27 Pearl St that overlooks all of Portland and my reception at Mariners church. Not only is the location perfect, but the Regency will walk you through every step of the way. They have an onsite coordinator, Carrie, and I can say I wouldn’t have been able to get through my wedding planning without her. Carrie makes you her number one priority and you feel you are her only client. She is so personable and has the best energy a person could have. I had staff member Liz marry us as she is an officiant in Maine. Liz took her role marrying us incredibly seriously. She was so invested in making sure we had the ceremony of our dreams and I do not think there are many officiants out there that care as much as Liz does. I also have to say the front desk staff, especially Mercedes, are so welcoming and want to help you in any way to make your day go as smooth as possible. April, the spa manager, was incredible. She did my hair and make up and made the entire experience fun, light, and joyful. April is a force! The valet staff are incredible too - shoutout to Ben for driving me in the fancy SVU to the rooftop! There’s also Ari who is an amazing bartender serving to make you and your guests super happy and Christian who always greet you with a smile when you pull up to the Regency valet circle. I genuinely don’t believe there is a better hotel that cares more about you having the best experience possible whether it’s a wedding, weekend stay, or business travel. I’ll be forever loyal to...
