Hong Phat on Prescott is a wonderful store. It is the smaller version of the ginormous store located on 82nd and Burnside. This store is very compact and very organized and the people that work there are extremely helpful and extremely pleasant. everyone is always busy running around stalking the shelves and making sure everything is good to go. Their produce is outstanding always very fresh and people out there rotating and restocking all day long. they have a wonderful compact meat department with all of the necessary parts of the pig everybody loves to take home and cook. They have some of the best pork belly I have seen excellent quality and reasonably priced for how ridiculously expensive pork belly has become.
This is not an exclusively Asian store and white folks and people from all factions of life are welcome here. There's no need to be intimidated because cooking Asian cuisine at home is very economical and very affordable. They have a wonderful selection of equipment and reasonably priced knives and walks and pans. Again this is not the full version monster store on 82nd but you also don't have to fight the tremendous large crowds that gather at their bigger store. This store is quiet and neighborly.
Great price on rice, great price on dried noodles as well as a good selection of fresh noodles tofu miso kimchi and everything else you can imagine from the far East.
And let me also state that their pricing is very reasonable and affordable. go to a large chain grocery store and try and buy three bunches of green onions fresh with flavor for a dollar? Go buy fresh noodles for under five bucks. You can't beat their prices.
This is a true treasure in our neighborhood and they do a great job of moving product. I give this wonderful store...
Read moreIt still doesn't hold a candle to either of the Hong Phat superstores on 82nd, but having this little satellite store basically in my own backyard has come to be a blessing over the past few years. The vegetables and produce are cheaper, and higher quality, than most of the larger grocery stores, and having a decent selection of Asian staples, from noodles to sauces, has been a lifesaver, on more than one occasion.
Inventory can be a little inconsistent, with certain items that were once stocked disappearing, sometimes never to return. With two massive supermarkets only a few miles away, this "little brother" location feels like a bit of an afterthought in the greater Hong Phat empire, relegated to housing overstock, and catering to only the most basic of needs, but for what it offers, there's really nothing else like it in Parkrose, and the same is true for almost all of NE Portland east of 82nd, other than Lily...
Read moreI just moved to this side of PDX. Will try this place again. I was in a hurry but wanted to see the place. Staff are not friendly. Sad too. Cool things like special eggs, frozen durian...pork belly is on my list to buy. The pears look good. Green onions are in bunches of 3 wrap in plastic,ok with me. Season's isle needs improvement but its doable. I haven't giving up yet on this place. Will do an update when I do some real shopping. Update 2/7/22 unfriendly place. Asked about a product and the guy just walk off and only half answered me!? Kimchi was all over the shelf, I was going to buy but passed. It was a mess. I did purchase a few things. I will buy somewhere else and not waste my time. I really tried...
