When my family moved here from Japan in 1959 this was the Portland city park that I adopted as my own at the bright age of 5 years old because my grandma lived on Kerbey and it was only a hop skip and a jump to Peninsula Park.. . A place I would call my home in the Summers and now a wonderful memory of my childhood as I have taken walks with my dog through the park and for the most part it has still remain the same layout including the beautiful Peninsula Park Rose Garden where some of the most beautiful and captivating rose bushes are located and a beautiful Fountain as well. This park represents what Portland is all about community-oriented and it's always clean and inviting and it serves so many purposes of many citizens of our community. It has always been a rare and greatly anticipated privilege to wait for the Roses to bloom at Peninsula Park and take that grand walk through all of Mother Nature's most beautiful flower. It's a great place to catch your breath while your breath is taken away from you by all of the beauty. I highly recommend a springtime walk near Sunset when the air is cool and you have had a tough day and you just want to take 15 minutes and clear your head with a quiet walk. Next time make that walk at Peninsula Park and see what you've been missing within the confines of our beautiful city. God bless Peninsula Park and God bless the Portland Park Bureau for taking care of my wonderful Park all...
Read moreThis park is huge and amazing 😍 we literally spent hours playing at this park all day! The play structures are super big and fun. There are multiple structures and they are all under an umbrella of trees so even though it was 88° that day we were still able to play for over 4 hours in the hot parts of the day. The parking is on the streets around the park and on a far corner from the playground there is a parking lot. There are tons and tons of picnic tables. There were multiple birthday parties going on near the play structures. Located throughout the park there are covered areas to for parties. There were multiple baseball games going on as there are lots of fields for games. They had their bathrooms open. There was also a drinking fountain. There was a spray pad that was not quite open for the season yet. I believe they open in June. There's a market that is across the street from the playground in case you need a snack or something to drink. We had so much fun at this part we will definitely be going back and letting our friends know how...
Read moreOne of the top 3 parks in the city - best one for roses in my opinion. Dogs must be kept leashed. Grassy areas to picnic. Historic community center with swimming pool, quaint gazebo, covered area for parties, fountain and sunken rose garden. Partially paved loop, smaller dirt gravel loop as well. Tennis courts (2?), bars, horse shoes things (byo horse shoe) and basketball court. 2 Baseball diamonds. Jungle gyms and a kids spray water play area. Safe. I love this park all seasons! I live within blocks and agree with other reviews that it doesn't have bathrooms that are unlocked very often or there's the nasty port-a-potty. Portland Parks and Recreation don't monitor the park enough for behavior issues. During covid there were a lot of campers in the area that made things more sketchy. I think most parks felt this way 2020-2023. Summer 2023 new plantings and feels...
