Rock's Gym — Attraction in Portland

I joined Rock's- Portland a couple weeks ago because it is only a couple minutes from my home. I had been a member for a few years at a franchise gym in Corpus Christi. I've been able to find all the equipment my previous gym has and the cost is the same. I like how there are plenty of spray bottles and clean microtowels for all the members to use. No more back and forth to get the spray bottle and paper towel dispenser. There's also child care available which the national chain gym I was at didn't have. It took me a few times to get used to less TV's than where I was before, but now I realize how distracting they were. Whether you are a beginner just needing a little cardio and light workout or a serious competitive body builder they got you covered. I love this gym, really had that old school powerlifter/bodybuilder feel. Tons of iron and steel great variety in machines and different bars and grips. The outside is perfect for alternative lifting plus they have the strong man stuff! Some of the staff are super helpful and always friendly and making they’re presence know and keeping things clean. Its unfortunate the younger staff seem to just take selfies and talk behind the counter without doig alot else, ive also never been to this gym and seen the weights racked i dont think its a employee problem because i see them try, there are also signs literally everywhere i think thats more gym patrons just not caring which is a ego problem not a gym problem. Facebook comments were turned off after they were called out for playing gangster rap at high volume in a " Family Friendly " gym. Staff ignores customer concerns if they do not fit their narrative. I was a member under the old owner and had hope that it would improve under the new management. Alas it has not. I cannot recommend a gym that forces music on you that you do not want to hear. The music was 84db on a sound meter at 36ft away from the speaker. When I asked them to turn it down it was turned up and attitude was given to me by a staff member. As bad as the old owner was this was never a problem before. Sad. They also delete comments that shine a negative light on their practices on FB ( hence comments being turned off ).
