What a wonderful place to visit. We went on a behind-the-scenes tour and saw the adjacent office building and house. In addition to those, we saw the basement and attic within the house. The house is in great condition and the staff have gone to great lengths to make it as original as possible.

In the attic, there were a few other pieces that weren't on display for various reasons. It was a nice bonus.

On the day we toured, there was another group recreated a historical Victorian breakfast so the house smelled wonderful. It would be fun to return and participate in that breakfast.

Note that photography inside is prohibited. The stairs down to the basement and attic are somewhat more difficult than the main staircase. There isn't much to see in the basement, but it...

This was an amazing experience. The history of the house and the area is fantastic. Not only do you see a lot of the original furniture and restored house but there are photographs of the family that lived there. I could try and imagine exactly what it was like at that time. The time period this restoration is geared to is the 1890’s, but the history of the city goes back to the 1600’s, I’m told. The tour of the house takes about an hour, but then I was free to look around the grounds. The flowers and gardens are gorgeous. There is all kinds of space to walk. Enjoy the river, the estate and the park even has...

Our tour started at the visitor center which is across the street from the home. We walked over to the mansion and went through a building that was used as an office and a billiards room. Then we were taken into the main house. The home is just beautiful and well maintained. The furnishings were just beautiful in all the rooms. The tour guide talked about the family and the home. When we were done in the main house we were allowed to walk the grounds and visit a few of the other buildings on the property. I...

We had two great tours, one of the grounds and one of the home. Home was extensively furnished with furniture, pictures, and house hold items. Both our Historical Society tour guides did a great explaining the properties, family history and interests. Home was beautifully furnished and restored. We toured both the first and 2nd floors. Grounds tour told both the family and military history. Very impressed.
