The Depot — Restaurant in Prairie du Chien

It's ok. They had a limited menu. There was like 3 sandwiches and a bunch of appetizers. We ordered 2 maid rights with fries, pulled pork sandwich with fries, chicken strip with fries, and they had small drinks only. Everything except the sandwichs were appetizers and need to be bought separately. They came with potato salad and coleslaw. It came to about $45. We were never asked if we wanted refills. There were 2 employees working. The cook came over and wouldn't leave us alone. She stood there and talked through out our meal. With in 20 minutes the restaurant filled up. When we were done I stood at the bar waiting to pay for 15 minutes, because 2 employees. Maybe with a full staff and menu...

Absolutely fantastic place to visit! Relaxing view of the Mississippi River from the outside deck, fun atmosphere and great view from inside the bar as well. Super friendly staff and great food. Extra bonus is live music across the street on Thursday evenings in the summer. It can get busy on the weekends but no worries with that - great a chance to enjoy the wonderful scenery while you wait. My husband had a Reuben sandwich with onion rings and I had a special of the day, a breakfast sandwich with a bloody Mary. Both meals were excellent!

We also enjoyed looking at all of the trains on display, along with the historical pictures.

5/23/2025 - We returned to the Depot and everything was just as excellent as last time.

We sat outside and watched the boats go by on the river.

I had the cod sandwich special and my husband had a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings. Both meals were delicious!

We look forward to returning...
