Simply Cafe — Restaurant in Prairie du Chien

We stopped in this town on our way to Madison. I'm super glad we did. It's such a quaint little town and there are so many things to go see and do. We wanted to eat at a locally owned place and really enjoyed our time here. The reason I'm getting it a four-star and not a five is the food was good just not great. There were four of us and I was unable to get a picture of the boys food as I had walked down the street and by the time I came back they had eaten it. Also, as we are finishing they were vacuuming as we were still in the restaurant as were at least a dozen other people. I thought it was rude to be doing that when you still had customers in the restaurant. Also, the line was long and going very slow so I tried to do their app where you could order it and pick it up and it was not user friendly. I ended up having to go to the counter anyway. It is a cute place and I think it's a nice addition...

Unfortunately I was very disappointed with this spot. The two lattes we order were nothing more than hot milk and espresso, no foam or care put in at all. At 8am, when I was expecting a nice relaxing breakfast and coffee, I was subjected to very loud pop music and the employees having a very public conversation about how much they disliked their neighbors children. Even the adult working joined in to expresss their disgust of kids. The breakfast sandwich I got was thoughfully created but insanely over dressed and way too heavy for my liking. This whole thing (two lattes and two breakfast sandwiches), with tip, cost me close to $50 dollars. A very expensive, uncomfortable and underwhelming...

Great atmosphere, very friendly people and the food is excellent! Very accommodating, order just the amount you want. Get a whole meal, 1/2 meal or a kid's meal. Sandwiches, salads, soups & the bread sticks are wonderful. Sit at a cafe table for 2 in the window, or a variety of tables for small or large groups, or just relax in a comfy chair by the fire visiting, or reading.
