I am a youth leader who called bama Lanes on Monday to make a reservation for Wednesday night for 1 lane and 2 games. Once we arrive and walk to the counter the worker bluntly told us we COULD NOT bowl tonight and there wasn't anything they could do. So I explained my phone call from Monday and explaining to them they guaranteed me there would be no problems at all. But when we got there tonight we got an entire different story as well as an entirely different attitude. They didn't care one bit about us because big time bowlers were walking in with their bags and matching league shirts. So they threw us under the bus when when the big wealthy pros came in.. I tried multiple times explaining I had called Monday and requested a 1 lane for 4 bowlers. She assurred me unless it was for a school event, or large celebration event then we would not have anything to be concerned about. So this trip we have been so excited for and after making the long drive was so disappointing.,So we ended up staying the entire time at the Good Fits Pro Shop inside Bama Lanes. They were so amazing, patient, dedicated. Had it not been for this store and especially Derek Williams and Gary Chambless we would have came home with a horriffic impression of Bama Lanes But the bowling shop store employees went above and beyond to make their visit special and gave them hope for many more future visits. I will be making a call to the owner of Bama Lanes tomorrow inquiring how a customer can call on monday to reserve 1 lane for 2 games but get the response explaining just our small church group would not need a reservation and to show up, get signed in, and have a good time. So that is exactly what we tried to do and we were turned away for the more professional bowlers. My kids were more hurt and disappointed than they would admit. But again, I will be speaking to the owner tomorrow morning and hopefully we can create a plan that gives bama Lanes the chance to make it right to my kiddos so we can leave awesome feedback for them. I am a firm believer good businessess deserves positive feedback that will help their business grow. Just like I also believe bad business deserves honest negative flaws to be exposed and shared with as many people as possible. But I believe they will treat my kiddos much better next time. And I will happily update my review once my kiddos are treated just as important as...
Read moreWe are newish to the area and came here for a date night. Let me start with saying this place is HUGE, there is bowling, and arcade and an attached bar (blue iguana); we only partook in the bowling.
The good: the staff were very friendly, we we help right away, and we're able to get a lane and shoes immediately. There is a vast selection of bowling balls. The lanes were fast and worked very well.
The environment: the facility smelled of cigarette smoke the minute we walked in. It also first seem to have not been renovated since the late 80s/ early 90s. There were neon signs for the arcade, cafe, etc. (Not on). The carpet was the same pattern as the saved by the bell logo, and it had the old big tube tvs hanging in the non-bowling area. My one big criticism is everything looked dirty. There was a visable layer of dust on the tvs and the carpet was black in the high traffic areas, so much so that the neon pattern was no longer visible.
Pricing. For 1 game each and shoe rentals for 2 adults, we paid $21. We were told the shoes were $5 each, so that leaves the games were $11 total, or $5.50 each. This seemed very expensive to me. The shoes did seem to be older.
Overall, it was okay experience. The staff were friendly but with the age, appearance, and cleanliness of the facility with as a pricier experience i was...
Read moreI, a youth bowler who competes in several tournaments, bowled at Bama Lanes 2 days this week to practice for Junior Gold. Junior Gold is a big national tournament for all the best bowlers in the states. A lot of people have to practice and prep for this kind of thing. I am out of town to visit relatives and they happened to be in Prattville. I am from Charleston, South Carolina. When I arrived the first day to Bama Lanes, the employees behind the counter were just as nice as can be. They have a policy to pay after bowling, which I thought was convenient. I got to my lane and I tried a slide-test on the approach. The approaches were pretty good and the lanes were in good condition. When paying, my grandfather mentioned that I had bowled in a summer sport shot league back home. The man behind the counter gave us a league discount, bringing the price from $32 to $9, and offered to get us on a sport pattern 2 days later. We obviously agreed and came back 2 days later. I got put on 15 with Bear 51’ that has heavy oil. I had been struggling with heavy oil lately and it was perfect. We went to go pay and they were just as nice as the last time. I saw no flaws when going there and I really appreciate all they did. Thank you, Bama Lanes!...
