Quiet little stop on our way back from our Moms' homes. The 2 ladies downstairs gave us freedom to leisurely roam the museum and read each article and description with the antiques and artifacts. We were the only visitors at the time. Upstairs, there were more interesting artifacts and information, but the thing that really amazed us was the tiny scaled down railroad town that had many places resembling their local town/area as it would have been years back. The train was not running due to a technical issue, and them waiting on parts. Whether it was running or not the art work and thoughtful process behind the whole piece was more impressive than pictures could capture. Outside was a caboose that we were able to walk through and explore. Although I loved having the time in the museum to ourselves, I hope the museum is more appreciated and explored by...

Stopped in here after walking the most downtown area up and back. Get pictures of the beautiful wall murals and old buildings. Well, I must say I was a bit worn out, so coming into I was asked to sign the visitor log. So the director of the museum (Ms Pat) and her volunteers were sitting around in old church pews . After signing the book, I saw a seat open and told them, "I think I'll sit a spell." Well, that spell lasted almost two hours, kinda reminded me of an old country store we're the locals would gather and share the latest town gossip and the history of the town of Princeton West Virginia. We shared stories and laughed, museums artifacts are fantastic and well preserved. Mostly through donations from local families and the railroad companies that operated back in the day. So worth the stop and see the history of...

The staff was very pleasant and accommodating to our homeschool group. They took time to thoroughly explain the history of the railroad in our community, as well as the key jobs on the railroad. The staff provided the students with an opportunity to reenact how messages were transferred from the station to the trains, prior to modern technology. The upstairs model train was incredible. The staff took time to explain each intricate piece and why it was chosen in the display. It was disappointing that a previous visitor had broken the train and it was inoperable, however this was no fault of the museum and they're actively pursuing parts for it's repair. Our students also took advantage of the small hands on train play area upstairs. This place is a hidden gem in Mercer County and I'd highly recommend taking the time...

Really nice little museum to drop in and see, especially for free. They accept donations but there's no admission charge. Sweet ladies who work there, they have lots of knowledge and can answer any question you have in regards to the railroad history. Lots of neat, old items, both from the railroad, coal mining and they have a small agriculture museum separate, with an actual old caboose on display outside that you can go inside of. Very clean and up to date building that also has an elevator. Was very impressed with the museum. They even have a small gift shop, little odd and end items, plus shirts for the kids.
