Hi. Benevolent, and esteemed patrons, and staff of Kabob and curries.
I am Dhruv, I am from India. I was in Providence in and out in 2007, and 2008-9 Fall, Spring Term. I completed three courses. Intro to Psychology. Politics, Markets, States in Developing Countries, and Math 0900 or something with a Korean professor.
I am a dropout from Brown University, but managed, with Mental Health support, to get a degree from Delhi University, which has or had Ivy League ties. Are you Patels? This is tres importante.
So, I used to eat there for . the Weekend Brunch and sometimes people would meet and I did not know who, and I would go alone, from Pembroke, and sit and dine and enjoy, with many people.
I am not sure I am remembered well. I enjoyed the Vegetarian a lot. And maybe Chicken Curry. I didn't eat, and still don't eat Kebab much. I am a softe main made guy by bhagwan. Which, what, I am not sure. Not this Waheguru though. Punjab is everywhere, but not then.
This place helped me a lot. I came from Japan, and South Korea, where my family was in salary, but I am from Hindustan, India, Bharat, and I am here still in Delhi-NCR. I achieved my Masters also, from Webster University Satellite Bangkok, which has now shut down, but it is from St. Louis.
The world is changing. I am there. If you need help, I love Providence, Boston, NYC, and all, RSVP. My e-mail, is available to you. I am resourceful in small ways. If you ask for chawal dhan I will give you thappad. I know how to deal with Patel ;)
All was well in my time, I enjoyed walking, fitness, slow walk, East Side Pockets, the Cranberry Pizza place, and spent money on Thayer Street. I was not a thief :). Eating on points, the healthy salads all the time.
At the Gate, you had to pay. I loved the Arizona Iced Tea. I have had once in India :) Don't mind.
I recommend this restaurant to all Indians, in need of a good meal, who are lost, in Providence. On the weekend. South Asia, there are complexities, and there are many Professors at Brown U etc. who understand all this. Etc.
God bless us. I have some regret. And I love Brown, and Thayer, and Hope, and Providence Place Mall, and I imagine you understand. I have 2 degree post school! I know the real world.
That is why I have this power. God bless. God bless America! And Every place else. Please thank them at OMAC, and Supercuts, and CVS. And, I was a nice man. Lucky maybe. Bhagwan. Now I am 35.
The weather is nice in North India. It must be colder there. Have some of the fancy coffee. I am a mocha caramello. Or something. I love you. Always. K and C.
Love, Dhruv Rajashekaran Brown...
Read moreLet me just start off by saying this exceeded my & my husband's expectations in so many ways. Seating was no wait when we got there; I had made a reservation originally because I wasn't sure how busy it would be, so that is an option. Service was quick with taking our order and getting us our drinks, appetizers, and entrees.
We tried the Lamb Samosa and the Chicken Masala Poutine Fries as Appetizers, though the Fries easily could have been an entree. The turnovers came with two dips (one spicy the other sweet), but they taste amazing with or without them. The flakiness of the pastry and the flavor of Lamb was wonderful. The Poutine Fries were a much larger order than expected, and blew us away. The chicken was very tender and the cheese with the Masala sauce was amazing with the fries. The level of heat was mild enough for us both to enjoy together
For Entrees my Husband ordered the Lamb Mushroom Korma at Medium heat, while I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala with Mild heat. We also ordered several Naan breads to try as well; Plain, Garlic, Paneer Cheese, and Coconut Fruit.
"The lamb mushroom korma was just as ordered spicy enough to warm but not make uncomfortable and super tasty, paired great with the garlic naan." - Husband
Very similar to the Poutine the Chicken Tikka Masala at Mild was the perfect amount of heat for me, so I was able to fully enjoy the flavors without too much heat. Once again the chicken was nice, juicy and tender while the Tikka Masala sauce was creamy and paired well with all the Naans in my opinion.
It's hard to say if we had a Favorite of the 4 naans we tried. The Plain was lovely and had a bit of butteryness to it if one prefers to have a nice, fairly basic bread. The Coconut Fruit Naan was the right amount of sweet without going too much, we believe it was cranberries in the naan with the coconut but forgot to ask before leaving. The Paneer Cheese was a buttery cheese and very pleasant; perfect with the Masala sauce. The Garlic might come off as strong if you are expecting the subtle garlic bread you might find other places so that is something to note if you aren't used to it; my husband loved it.
The portions for the entrees were very large, and we ended up needing to-go boxes for half of them and the naan breads.
Overall it was a very lovely experience! We will definitely be returning to try their other dishes as well as...
Read moreThe food was fantastic but thr service was far from it. Been coming here for years. We rarely had good service but it was tolerable. We have taken a break from the restsurant for months after discovering Indian restaurants that offer equally great food. We were in the area recently so we decided to have lunch. Our waiter looked like he found the tadk of serving us distasteful. He came to take our order and I explained that we were ordering drinks and appetizers first and need some time to decide on the main dish. I ordered naan and thw waiter told that it comes with the meal. I explained that I wanted a separate order to go with rhe paneer. He then waited again so I asked that we get the drinks and apps first. Our drinks and paneer arrives and we wait for the naan. About 10 mins later, we ask the waiter only to be told that he told me that it comes with the meal. So much for the customer's request. I apologized since he looked irritated and explained again that I want a separate order to eat with thw paneer. My companion's food, and finally our naan, arrives. I got ready to use my appetizer plate when it gets taken away. I try to stop him and explained that I will need to use it. I was told they will get me a new one. Instead of an appetizer plate, my order arrives. The garlic naan was great, the tandoori chicken was flavorful and fell ofd the bone. The salmon in the salmon tikka masala tasted like salmon that was previously frozen - no flavor at all. Although the sauce was good, it could not cover up the tasteless meat with bad texture. It was also a very small serving. Towards the end of the meal, the waiter comes back and we finally see him smile and make an attempt to be friendly. Overall, I never really expected great service to sta rt with and most of the...
