I hate writing reviews. In general I feel like the service industry is over tipped while they under deliver on the actual service they are paid to provide. I only write reviews for exceptional service or horrible experiences. I want you all to know I normally love Flatbread in Providence, but this needs to be written. Today I had the mother of bad service. Her name was Jordan and she is a self important, overly offended WHITE WOMAN, with an inflated sense of self. I sat down at the bar with my son at 4:00 PM and ordered a couple of drinks, from a lovely fella named Kevin. My son and I had a wonderful conversation while we waited for about 25 minutes for my wife to send me the full take out order, at which time I gave Kevin my order and he submitted it for take out. About 15 minutes after that, we tried to order a second round from a new bar tender named Jordan. She said no...No expatiation she just refused to serve us again. She did however speak with her friends at the end of the bar for 20 minutes and she made a dramatic gesture of handing us two glasses of water while passing us by which implied that maybe we had been over severed? Not sure how that would be possible having only one beer in the hour we had been there. At around 5:15 PM I asked her if she happened to know what time we had arrived, and her reply was, and I quote, "About 20 minutes ago, I think." I appreciate that fact that bartenders have the right to cut off service to anyone at any time. However, I believe they should also have sense of reality as to how long they are actually making people wait. Jordan's attitude and total lack of her surroundings will hurt the atmosphere of a wonderful restaurant. While my story is not horrible, and will in no way effect my life at all beyond this review. It does denote the tip of the iceberg for a self important and oblivious server, I person that has the power to make a lot of local patrons feel bad about their next trip to a Providence favorite. I probably won't stop going to Flatbread, but Jordan's attitude was so off putting, that I need the management to know they have a problem that is easily solved, if they...
Read moreI came here with a group when my son was being shown around the college. I would give it a five but there were a few nays about our visit that would cause me to not return. First, the server was lovely and knew her job better than most. The food was amazing and worth ordering for take out anytime. The atmosphere was nice. What I didn't like is the little monsters running around out of control. I realize they are so misbehaved that their own parents just didn't want them around either and it was easier to have them tormenting other guest then themselves. One bully was torturing another little girl so much so that I almost got off my chair to set him straight. The mom finally saw what bully boy was doing and got her little girl away from him. Kids need to be seated and behave or kept home - please. The second was the 15 minute extra delay in the one pizza made especially with no onion or mushroom so I could have it. Everyone else was done eating and I had to sit there stupidly because this place brought all the other ones first. wth? Think a little here, okay? Then they ordered desserts which were out of this world and almost worth sitting in there for. Maybe you can get those for take out also? I do recommend this place if you can tolerate uncontrollable kids - and they can't always be in there - can they? It's not Flatbreads fault parents have no respect for others trying to enjoy...
Read moreHate having to write this kind of review but it’s unfortunately necessary. I’ll start with the good. The pizza is very, very good. Love the thinner but crispy crust. Great wood fire flavor.
Unfortunately the service is poor. The waitress we had last night had such a careless attitude as she moped around the establishment with zero sense of urgency. We seemed to wait forever for every step of dinner while, Multiple tables came and went. Restaurant was less than half crowded. I can deal with this if this was the only thing to go wrong, but unfortunately it wasn’t. To make matters significantly worse, I’ve been dealing with lower gastric upset all night and into this morning. I have a sensitivity to certain cheeses so I ordered a No Boundaries pizza with plain dough. I asked for the squash, sausage, onion and goat cheese ( a cheese that doesn’t make me sick). It tasted absolutely fantastic, but found out overnight after scraping the toppings off that the first layer of topping was shredded cheese. How does this even happen. Plain Dough doesn’t sound like Jays Heart or Cheese and Herb. Can’t fathom how something like this can even happen other than careless service. Super disappointing and massively frustrating to deal with overnight and this morning. Could easily be 4 or 5 stars if not for...
