If Rincon is the surfers paradise on the west of the island, Playa La Pared is close to its equal on the North East coast. About 50km east of San Juan. Located in the town of Luquillo. A good beach to explore for hours even if you don’t surf. You can walk the beach and swim closer to the shore. Watch the surfers and other water/beach activities. There are cafes & restaurants in the neighborhood and oceanfront restaurants and bars that can get busy on some days. We were told that food trucks are only there on Saturdays. We went on Saturday on our next visit and the beach was busy. There were several food trucks that offered variety of food with reasonable prices. We highly recommend the Simple Food Truck. Read moreWe took surf lessons from Brian of Surfing Puerto Rico at this beach. They're the perfect size waves for beginners! When the surface I will see quite a few Surfers congregate here, as well as a lot of spectators. This is perfect shallow water for at least 15 to 20 feet out, there are some times Riptides to watch for. We spent 2 weeks in Puerto Rico and Luquillo was our favorite by far, although there aren't very many seashells or sea glass if that's what you're looking for.
