I was pleased with my 4-night stay @ Luquillo Sunrise Inn. There are a number of things that I liked about it. It's nice to hear the sound of the ocean from your balcony at night, & to see the beautiful beach sunrise (hence the name.) It feels safe, and the location is a great hub to venture out and explore the beautiful region, or simply enjoy the beach RIGHT THERE, just just a few feet across a narrow street on the seaboard.
The staff was very helpful and friendly, and it is nice that they do offer beach towels, chairs, coffee, & have an on-site ice machine. I've been to other places that don't offer these essential items, and those are additional costs that you will incur.
I like to have my provisions and own food, and loved having the Amigo Mart very nearby. This is a "real grocery store" that has everything you might need (including adult beverages; beer, wine, liquor) and it is reasonably priced.
Luquillo Sunrise Inn is not some fancy-schmancy bougie resort, but that was not what we were looking, or paying for. Some people may have unlimited funds, and don't really care what things cost, but for those of us who want to have a fun vacation on a reasonable budget at a nice safe place, Luquillo Sunrise Inn deserves two thumbs up, and I recommend it. I am looking forward to...
Read moreThis is a lovely bed & breakfast. If we ever travel to Puerto Rico again, we wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. The rooms are super-clean, beds are very comfortable, air conditioning remarkably fast and efficient -- and the service was wonderful! The staff was extremely helpful in directing us to nearby restaurants, shops, and beaches; although, there is a beautiful beach right across the street. The Inn provides beach chairs and beach towels for free, so you can swim, surf, lie in the sun, play in the sand or just walk along the beach anytime of day. The inn provides a different delicious hot breakfast each day, with bountiful fruit, breads, juice and coffee offered as well. If hanging out and relaxing is on your itinerary, they have comfortable lounges and a hammock on a lovely deck which overlooks the ocean, where sea breezes help relieve the tropical heat and humidity. It's rimmed with tropical plants and palm trees, and there's water and an ice machine nearby. So relaxing... If 24-hour restaurant room service, glass elevators and chrome furnishings are your style, you'll want to look elsewhere. If quaint island surroundings, friendly staff, comfortable furnishings and home-cooked food are more your style - this is the place for you! Chris & Alan...
Read moreGreat place to stay in Luquillo. All of the staff members are friendly and personable. Upon arrival, we were given a map of the surrounding area, and a quick overview of nearby restaurants and shopping. Sherry, the General Manager was more than gracious, and explained the history of the Inn to us. She explained that the locals who own the surrounding homes vacate the area during the winter months, so that is why some of the buildings in the immediate area look rundown. The breakfast was wonderful. Fresh fruits, pastries, bagels, local jellies, and the hot breakfast they served each morning was delicious. The rooms were very clean, and everything is well maintained. We stayed on the second floor with a room overlooking the ocean. The view of the beach and mountains was awesome. I would recommend staying on the 2nd or 3rd floor for the views. The beach immediately across is not safe for swimming due to the currents, but is great for surfing. You can take a two minute walk down the beach to get to calmer waters. We would definitely stay at Luquillo Sunrise Inn again. It would be a great place for kids too, but makes a great getaway for couples. There are a couple of really good restaurants within walking distance. Can't wait to visit Luquillo and...
