A Truly Inclusive Community Space for All Ages!

If you’re searching for a park that combines beauty, functionality, and inclusivity, look no further than Laurel Hills Park. This park offers far more than just open green space—it’s a thoughtfully designed environment where everyone, from toddlers to seniors, can enjoy a day outdoors comfortably and safely.

One of the standout features is the abundance of seating. Whether you’re looking to relax in the shade, enjoy a picnic with family, or simply take a break while watching the kids play, there are benches and seating areas strategically placed throughout the park. Many are nestled under trees or near flower beds, offering both comfort and scenic views.

The variety of playgrounds is truly impressive. There are designated zones for different age groups, including a soft-padded area for toddlers with low-level play structures, swings, and sensory panels. Older kids will love the larger climbing structures, zip lines, rope bridges, and interactive elements. For teenagers, there’s a separate space with outdoor fitness equipment and a small skate-friendly area, giving them room to move and socialize.

What truly sets this park apart is the unique zip line. It’s not only fun and exhilarating but also wheelchair accessible, with adaptive seating and a transfer platform for children and adults with disabilities. This rare feature demonstrates the park’s commitment to inclusivity and universal access.

Smooth, wide paths throughout the park allow for easy navigation with wheelchairs and strollers, and the accessible playground equipment ensures that everyone can participate,...

Laurel Hills Park is a go to option if you live in Raleigh. And it is a fantastic park for the kids! It is a GIGANTIC park with multiple slides, swings bridges and so much more. Basketball court is fun. And the landscaping is beautiful. The funnest part of the playground is the rocking ship. And the rocking ship kids and grown ups! It has trails that you can hike through with the baseball field for games and that is extremely fun! I think they just have finished the community center for Laurel Hills Park. And bathrooms are remodeled now. But since it is one of the best playgrounds in Raleigh, it will be very busy, like packed! Especially on the weekends. But in the Summer you are lucky there is lots of shade in the playground with tents and benches. But when it is busy it will be hard to find benches when it’s busy. So I would recommend avoid going in a summer weekend. The best time to get is in fall on a weekday if there’s time. The best time to go in the summer is probably on a Sunday in the 80’s for temperature. But the is a impressive and Incredible park I definitely recommend going if you live in Raleigh despite living in the suburbs around Raleigh it will take longer to go to the park but if you live closer to Downtown Raleigh, West Raleigh, The triangle and others that surround it then I recommend this park. Awesome park and highly...

This park is cool! I had a hard time finding it because I put "Sassafras playground" in Maps, and it took me almost there (wanted me to stop in the middle of a 4 lane). But it was worth the confusion because the park is really neat! It's multilevel with rubberized, cement, and grassy play spaces. You can't see the playground from the parking lot but there is a sign that says "sassafras," go towards that then go right and you'll end up at the park (about a 3 minute walk from the parking lot). The playground has multiple play structures for different levels of ability and a bunch of slides and swings. Caregivers have to stay active because there is no one vantage point to keep an eye on kids since the playground is so expansive. The park has good accessibility for varying abilities with ramps and...

We went to this park on our weekend trip to the triangle and it was a very nice park we went on a Saturday so it was a bit packed with birthday patties but we did find a bench to sit on so we could eat. The kids loved the zip line type part and it was a big enough park for them to decently run with it being so busy. It had a lot of variety with a sand box, basketball courts, trails, and more. They did have public restrooms down the way but there were no lights which I didn't really like as it gave a creepy feeling. They had a lot of construction going on but in all it's a very nice park and we will definitely go back.

Beautiful Park. Seems really great for accessibility. Unfortunately our 5 year old daughter wouldn't go explore or play, but that's not the park's fault. It's just the way she is because she's autistic and parks scare her. I dearly hope that someday she'll be willing to sit in a swing or go down a slide. It's hard to go and watch other kids running any playing when she can't. But I'm glad places like this park exist because we'll keep trying. I also thought the soft ground was a really cool feature and I like that it's there so that if kids fall, they are less likely to get hurt.
