Viva Supermarket — Attraction in Rancho Cordova

Changing my 5 star review from 3 years ago for this store to a 1 star now after my shopping visit on 7/14/25. The ladies working register are very RUDE, BRUSH YOU OFF, and do not like using or accepting WIC redemption. I was humiliated, embarrassed and brushed to the side for a supervisor to help me scan and get my wic groceries out today. One of the register ladies told me "JUST PAY THE BALANCE!" after the wic stuff wouldn't go through on her end even though I could clearly see I had all my wic benefits issued on my card and was ready to be used. I had abided by all the wic rules and food laws and only grabbed and shopped for items with wic label. She kept trying to say that random various items like 4 cans of black beans or strawberries or the low fat strawberry yogurt wasn't accepted or wasnt wic when it definitely was all wic items and had wic labels on them at the store shelf so wic users can easily identify what items are wic and which ones are not. Finally the male supervisor helped me and had some issues also for I'm not sure if he was used to wic redemptions, but he kept saying the 3.99 in strawberries I wanted was not going through. After taking so long already with the previous 2 females and now him I was in tears but told him that's okay, ill just accept what went through and what did not. Upon walking back to the car I checked my wic card after the final purchase and my fruits and vegetables balance says almost 9 dollars.... why the heck couldn't I get the 3.99 strawberries???? Seems like they were all frustrated with me so I just went home.

Do not come here if you are a young female, single/not married, and African american. This is not the first time I was treated like trash at this location for using wic. Discrimination for sure. To make matters worse the ladies on register were watching the supervisor and laughing at us both. thats what...

FOOD POISONING- ZERO STARS IF I COULD

FOOD POISONING from skinless, boneless chicken from butcher.

I was in the area and decided to stop by this grocery store. The chicken I purchased had an off-putting smell, but since I had just purchased I thought maybe it was because it was labeled "Halal".. well fast forward the next 30 minutes after eating my kids and I had vomited and bad stomachache. We didn't have breakfast that morning and had the chicken for lunch. It's disgusting please save yourself a trip to the Emergency Room just like me, my 5 year old and 1 year old.

We were sick for a week due to this grocery store. It needs to be investigated, lots of comments saying that they try to use future expiration dates so they're food is considered fresh for longer.

UNETHICAL PRACTICES. They are getting people sick and could've been worse if someone in my family was immunocompromised.

Please visit a different grocery store your HEALTH is valuable and you shouldn't go through what my family and I...

This place is convenient and for that they get a star, but giving it two is too generous considering they are selling rancid rotisserie chicken. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and returned for a second go at the rotisserie chicken. That was a mistake! I immediately felt sick to my stomach, and like before suffered from food poisoning for 3-4 days. That means dehydration, fever, upset stomach, nausea, low energy, and vomiting. Avoid the rotisserie chicken or at least open and smell it. Careful a convenient rotisserie chicken from Viva is not worth the food poisoning that follows. I know we are in a recession, but that is no excuse for the negligence on part of management, and solely management. The workers are just doing what is expected of them, and are absolutely friendly. Fix this problem. Thank you.

P.s. If this happens to you try 8 oz of warm water, 3 tbls of apple-cider vinegar, and a tablespoon of salt. Hope...
