My wife and I chose to do the 4 day Granite Peak trip with Beartooth Mountain Guides being guided by Aki. Aki was extremely knowledgeable about the surrounding area and route. There is no trail on the upper portion of the hike and Aki was critical in our success. Additionally, there is a decent amount of exposure at the top of the mountain that I would recommend ropes, at no point did I feel unsafe. I was impressed with the level of proficiency and professionalism regarding the management of the inherent dangers of rock climbing. Another reason to choose Beartooth Mountain guides is the food. We were able to eat real food with a lot of variety throughout the trip and not just condemned to eating freeze dried meals for every meal. 10/10 would highly recommend.

Fantastic trip up Granite Peak with Beartooth Mountain Guides! There are two guide services with permits, but I think this company is the best. We did it in four days although we had booked a fifth in case of bad weather. There is some technical climbing at the top and it is very important to go with someone who is competent at that and knows the route which is not well marked.

We had a rock climbing excursion with Aki and he gave our family a fantastic experience. Our kids have only climbed in a gym but were so excited to try the real thing. Aki was so patient and encouraging and was a great teacher/coach for us all. We learned about some of the other more technical options they offer and we will definitely plan to use them again when we return!

Aki guided me and a friend on a 4-day hike up Granite Peak in Montana. It was a fantastic experience from beginning to end. Pre-trip, the communications were clear and helpful. Aki was available via email and provided excellent advice on what equipment to bring, not bring, etc. The pre-trip check-in the night before the hike was done very well. On the trip, Aki was a great leader. As we hiked in, he found a pace that worked for everyone. He was a lot of fun to interact and share stories with. On each day, he let us know what to expect and how best to prepare. When the climbing got more technical, he was very efficient and well organized. It was clear it was not his first rodeo. On the summit day, when we had to push a little harder, he kept the group moving and kept everything very pleasant. Hitting the summit was a life highlight. All the logistics of camp (setting up tents, meal prep, etc.) were done very well and in a relaxed and efficient manner. Most importantly, throughout the trip -- which pushed me a little out of my comfort zone, in a good way -- I felt well supported, completely safe and in good hands. It was a terrific experience. I'd recommend Aki and his group strongly for anyone considering an adventure experience. If I have a chance to do another trip with Beartooth Mountain Guides, I'd...

Dear Beartooth Mountain Guides Team,

I just wanted to take a moment to share my appreciation for the outstanding experience I had with your guide Ross during my recent four-day climb of Granite Peak.

Ross was everything I could have hoped for in a guide—knowledgeable, patient, easy-going, skilled, and fun to be around. His calm confidence and clear communication made every step of the climb feel achievable, while his patience and encouragement helped me push through the more challenging sections. He balanced professionalism with a light-hearted nature, which made the long days not only manageable but genuinely enjoyable.

I came away from Granite Peak not only with an incredible summit experience but also with a deep respect for Ross as a guide and as a person. He truly represents the best of what a mountain guide can be, and I feel grateful to have shared the mountain with him.

Thank you again for all that you do—I’ll be highly recommending Beartooth Mountain Guides to anyone considering a climb in the area, and I’ll be keeping you in mind for...

Climbed Granite Peak with Beartooth Mountain Guides in August 2022. Was scrambling to find an alternative trip after a planned guided climb to Gannett Peak Wyoming was cancelled one month before the trip. Akio was very accommodating in ensuring that my vacation time (for which I had already taken secured leave with my local courts) would be productive. He found a visiting guide named Rostyn to guide me and ensure that I would still have a chance to pick up another very difficult state high point. Rostyn was an excellent guide and was very patient with me. I later found out that it was his very first trip up Granite Peak and he had been relying on advice from others to guide me. Nevertheless, he did an excellent job, and I celebrated by 45th state high point on this trip (I became a 48 finisher last summer on Gannett Peak with a different outfitter). Would highly recommend Beartooth to anyone looking for a guide to climb...
