Shasta County Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) — Attraction in Redding

0 Stars. Absolutely horrible!!!! I have an Interstate case and they refuse to speak with me. My ex owes $133,500 in back child support and they are doing nothing to collect on current or arrears. He has already fallen $6,000 behind just this year. They have never held him in contempt of court or put him in front of a judge. The most they have done is suspend his license and then he makes a payment and they give it right back. I’m disabled and can’t afford an attorney and I have to hire one in that county and state and I live in Idaho. My 16 year old daughter is having to work to help pay bills but that doesn’t matter to her dad or to Shasta County Child Support. I just called them last month in April 2019 to give them information on current employer and paydays, ect and they took a message and told me they would have the case worker call me back. It has been over 60 days without any payment. A few hours later I received a phone call from Idaho Child Support saying they were contacted by CA Child Support and that I was not to contact them again regarding my case. I asked for an update and was told it’s confidential. So I’m not allowed to know what’s going on with collecting on this large amount or if there ever going to do anything to ever enforce it. These people are total scumbags! I'm a disabled Gulf War Veteran and unable to work. They have suspended my license, brought me up on contempt charges and have made my life hell! My ex got a check from the Veterans Affairs for $11,100 and I was only $6000 behind. Now any school kid can tell you that I should have about $5000 in credit but no. " anything paid over what you owe is considered a gift" I was told. Now why in the Saten's butthole would I " gift" the woman that's trying to screw me in court $5000 when I'm having a hard time just getting by. Oh yea did I mention I have to pay back that $11,100 so in total I have $900 coming out of my disability for child support for one child. I am very active in my sons life and I have fought for 6 years now to be an equal parent but according to Shasta County courts that's not possible because of "alleged" domestic violence by other parent and my military service makes me a "trained killer" so we are doing what's best for the child so they say. Shasta County claims to honor Veterans but instead they exploit them and their deserved disability monies. As unhelpful as a government building could get. If you are not on any sort of cash aid or any government welfare, they could care less about helping the children of the single parents that have sole physical and legal custody. They work only IF the custodial parent is on welfare. If you arent on welfare but you still need enforcement of child support payments , you are 100 percent on your own. In fact they not only dont enforce the payment orders...they will close your case no matter how old the children are. They said they could not locate the noncustodial parent (even tho I HAD GIVEN THEM HIS PHONE NUMBER AND ADDRESS on several occasions) and after 4 years if them being completely incapable of locating the deadbeat parent , they closed My case. My children -at the time of case closure were 12, 14, and 16. So much...
