Tortilla Flats — Restaurant in Redding

this is the absolutely most disgusting restaurant I have ever been to in my entire life. The food is the equivalent of nasty cafeteria food and there are no Mexican people who work here. I have never in my entire life ever returned food at a restaurant, but this was just too disgusting to even eat and the quantity was less than half of what I would get at a good Mexican restaurant like Los Gordos. people clearly have no idea what a good Mexican food is supposed to taste like and they have very low standards for what type of food they are willing to eat. If anyone thinks this food tastes good then I can't even imagine what you are eating at home. This food was absolutely disgusting and I have heard nothing but the same from everyone I have talk to you about this restaurant. Thank God I did not get sick from the one bite of this disgusting food that I took. after one bite we returned both of our burritos for a refund and they told us that since we had already eaten a BITE we couldn't return it. HOW ELSE WOULD SOMEONE KNOW HOW DISGUSTING IT IS???? what kind of a restaurant practices business where they tell a customer after one bite that they are not going to return their food because they have already touched it? This place is absolutely disgusting and I have no idea why it is still in business, too many idiots continue to give them money for their low-quality disgusting food and terrible customer service. This place is a total joke and they have been serving garbage food for many years.

I have been going to Torilla Flats since I was a little girl. 45 years later and I still LOVE it! I recently have been going in weekly and Amanda, (server/bartender) is a big reason for that. She is so nice, efficient, and she makes me feel special. I wanted to give her a shout out because good help can be overlooked and it shouldn’t. Eating alone in a restaurant can be uncomfortable, but because of a server just remembering me and treating me like family, I can’t miss an opportunity to dine in. Thank you Amanda. I also have to give a shout out to the owner. She is somewhere close to the age of 100 and is still sharp and managing this gem of business. I remember her from age 10 or so and she is still awesome! Good job! Thank you too! I seen a big red tin can that I recognized from when I started going in as a child. The can was at a garage sale and I did not hesitate to get it. It says tortilla flats on it and I remember it in the restaurant. This tin can is precious to me, as I ate in there with my Grandma who I loved so much. If she were still here she would be 117 years old. The can is special because we both used to eat together in Tortilla Flats with that can on display. The owner should be so proud of the memories she created for so many people! I always ask about her and always get a good report. I am hoping I see her one of these days so I can tell her so many thoughts and give her so mucany thank you’s. Also, I hope she knows how uniquely special Amanda is. I worked as a server/ bartender the majority of my life and I know a good one when I see one. ...

Tasty Food with Great Vegan Options

I enjoyed a taco salad made with 3 different beans - black, pinto and refried, rice, guacamole, lettuce, cilantro, etc. served up in a delicious, fresh, flour tortilla shell.

The delicious beans are not prepared with lard. They were also cooked just right... not hard and not mushy. Tortilla was crunchy and tasty, still retaining a bit of the chewiness I love about flour tortilla shells. Guacamole was flavorful.

Lemonade was sweet and tangy :)

Service was friendly, quick and attentive. My server respectfully listened to my dietary preferences and helped modify this selection according to my needs. She also offered suggestions for options and choices available to me.

The price was very, very, reasonable with my huge meal costing well under $15

The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because I would love to see more vegan and plant based options actually on the menu. If my server hadn't been so helpful I may have just ened up with beans in a tortilla. As we become more health conscious, I look forward to the day there are more options...
