I have been maintaining a bodybuilding training program for 58 years, to include competitive bodybuilding in the 70's. I still maintain a very serious and rigorous training regimen. I have trained in hundreds of gyms. Over the years I find that today's gyms lack what is referred to as "gym etiquette". With the introduction of cell phones and gym management's lack of instilling "gym etiquette" to new and old members, it tends to create a workout environment that distracts from members who are actually there to obtain a quality workout. Everyday Fitness has some very good training equipment enabling a person to attain various levels of their fitness goals, to include competitive bodybuilding. The staff are very courteous and take care of the gym maintenance well. The gym has somewhat of an "old school" environment amongst the more dedicated and serious lifters. Based on all the gyms in the Redding area that provides the equipment and environment I personally need in a gym, Everyday Fitness is the best choice. Again, the main change I would like to see made at Everyday Fitness is in educating its members on "gym etiquette". That is a problem with virtually all today's gyms. Most of their members are not there for quality workouts, but more as a social experience and a place to hangout. Too many members spend their time sitting on equipment with their cell phones playing video games, scrolling the internet, and doing the same thing they could do at "Starbucks". During times I have approached a member sitting occupying equipment while playing with their cell phone for several minutes I have inquired if they are using the equipment. Often times the member appears confused and replies, "Yes, I have a couple more sets.". I consider such members inconsiderate and distract members who are actually there to get a workout and make physical progress. During such times I often ask the member if I can work in between their sets, then when working in, often finishing my entire use of the equipment before they even do their next set. More often than not a member responds as if not understanding what "working in" means. At that point I have to explain it to them. At times my explanation does not get them to understand it is all about "gym etiquette" and something all members should be doing. All members should receive a "Rules and Regulations" handout at the time they join. Staff should go over the "Rules and Regulations" with the new member. Gym rules should include no occupying of equipment while engaged in the use of their cell phone. A person occupying equipment using a cell phone should have the courtesy to stand and not occupy equipment and allow another member wanting to use that same equipment to "work in". Individuals that use their cell phone while occupying equipment for more than 3 minutes should be required to discontinue their equipment use and be required to operate their cell phone elsewhere, to include the gym's couched lobby area. Everyday Fitness does a good job maintaining good temperature control. However, all fans situated along the ceiling area should be facing upward, not downward. Nothing worse than having a good workout to move to an area with a fan blowing directly down onto you, causing your body to over cool which may result in a training injury. With all fans directed upward air circulation is accomplished without compromising a person comfort while working out. Also, there should be no large "Airplane" like floor fans in operation on the floor. If you are there to train for results I find floor fans create an uncomfortable workspace when training close to such a fan. I would like to see gym staff more closely monitoring an individual's use of their cell phone while occupying equipment. Should staff identify a violator, a tactful approach of that member by staff and providing of a simple reminder to not overuse their cell phone and to allow other members to "work...
Read moreThis gym is always closed for some reason or another. If you work on the weekends, especially Sunday, don't expect to be able to workout because of their hours. It's way too expensive, for my wife and I we pay almost 100 dollars a month and every few months they take a maintenance fee out of our account without telling us. Maintenance fee? Isn't that why we pay 100 dollars a month? As soon as my contract is up we're finding a new gym.
Then why am I spending 40 dollars to work out at another gym today Friday at 11:00am because everyday fitness is closed? Sunday isn't the only problem; Saturday's people work; if you work from 8-5, like me, working out Saturday's isn't an option either. 3 out 4 days of the week the gym isn't accessible this week.
Wiser decision by not going with your gym? I'm glad we can agree on that one. Where when I signed up did it say you were going to take snow days off and close your gym when every other gym in Redding was open? It cost me and a lot of your other members money, we had to pay to go to one of those other gyms. Plus your just proving my point by arguing with me back and forth, take the constructive criticism and try to be better. Very unprofessional. Plus it's funny when I left the comment you were the lowest rated gym in Redding now within the last 3 hours you've had all these people go on and leave comments for you to bump up your stars. If you weren't arguing with your customers on Google maybe you wouldn't...
Read moreOverpriced and Bad equipment. No other gym in the area is charging me $60 a month. Manager screamed and was rude to me when I went in to cancel since I left a one star review with my honest opinion. I recorded the whole interaction. Also claim I’m lying when other reviews state the same thing I said Months before I even posted my review. I remained calm, I professional and nice during the whole cancellation process. I can’t say the same for you that is not how a manager should act canceling your membership should be a quick and easy process But you made it hard and a terrible experience. I’ve been to many gyms all over the country and never met an owner so unprofessional. Everyday fitness is one of the most hated gyms in the Redding area due to the staff and you proved that point perfectly Tonja. The employees at everyday only last a week or end up working at the gym across the street the Terrible management shows everywhere you look The personal trainers don’t know anything about fitness and take advantage of the older people and steal there money. Gym is also full of creeps that prey on younger women. This gym deserves to be shut down but with how bad the quality is and how old it is I wouldn’t be surprised if it falls...
