Super disappointed with the All You Can Eat Korean BBQ. I was so excited that Redding finally has KBBQ--but alas. I went with 5 friends and this was worse than nothing. I will say that the quality of the meat was good, but that was about the only good thing.
First of all, the service was SLOW. Like, really slow. The way this All You Can Eat works is you are allowed to order 3 meats at once PER TABLE (not per person), and once you finish those you order more. Unfortunately we had to wait as long as 20 minutes after ordering before the next round of meat actually came. So we just sat there, with nothing to eat as we had finished the previous round of meat long ago.
Also--it's very common for an All You Can Eat place to have a time limit. This place is no exception. Only most places it's 2-3 hours, and here the limit is 1.5 hours. And I have never actually been held to this time limit, but sure enough, after 1.5 hours, our poor server came over and told us, "I'm really sorry, and I've never had to tell anyone this before, but you can't order any more food." So they will enforce the time limit, but bring you your food so slow that you don't actually get to eat that much... When this happened we asked her if we could still get the appetizers that we had already ordered and she said yes, but some of them still never came. So we left having not received things we ordered.
There was a man (he worked there, probably a manager or something) who kept looking over at our table with a mildly concerned look on his face. He kept coming back to surreptitiously look at us. I think he might have been the reason things took so long and we got cut off.
One last thing: there were only two sauces served. We asked for gochujang, the traditional KBBQ sauce, but apparently they don't have that.
Never going back! I guess we'll all have to keep driving to the Bay...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBelow average korean bbq. Banchan is O.K, mostly extremely sour and sweet with no balance. Meat quality was O.K beefs were tender and marbled all were choice quality cuts. Marinades for the meat were great. Bulgolgi was delicious and the spicy bulgolgi even better. Pork belly was terrible lean and 0 flavor.
What made this experience terrible was the service. If you have had korean bbq before especially in a place like Los Angeles or San Fran or Seattle where there are alot of different options there are things the restaurant does to slow down service.
They have a rule where you can order 3 protein and 2 appetizers. So you would order 3 and only 2 would arrive and server would disappear. You also can't order more until the whole order is removed according to the older asian server. So you can finish your two proteins have the grill burning as you wait 5-10 mins for a server to show up then another 5-10 minutes for your next missing order of protein. Now that all the sugar has burned onto the grill from the Marinades. Instead of changing the grill top your server just lowers the grill to low. Now everything takes double the time to cook and now everything has a burnt taste to it. As you get to your next round the quality of meat and quantity goes down. Staff take longer to bring out orders.
After an hour and 20 minutes we ended up only eating 2 rounds. At $90 dollars for two we were better off...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI wish there was a way to give no stars. I am avid supporter of business in our beautiful city, and my son looked forward to having us all share in the Korean BBQ experience with him as soon as he saw that this place opened. This was the worst restaurant experience I have had in Redding and was every costly. We were seated and only one of two tables when we arrived, after an hour and ten minutes we had each eaten about 5 bites of food, asked several waiters for help and just had no idea what was going on. I should say there is an hour and a half time limit. Well how was that going to work? Behind us someone was seated and got food within about 15 minutes! When we finally got up to leave so we could go home and eat I asked to speak to a manager. I told her that this has been horrible and we should not be charged full price. She proceeded to not only charge me full price but the adult price for my child aged daughter $102 total for almost no food. The. Told me Korean bbq takes awhile and I should learn some patience. We went home to eat. So disappointed. I was going to go back the next day and give feedback or see if we could try again, but after reading other reviews to the same effect decided not...
