The Lincoln Shrine is perfect in its way and the volunteers (Jim is so knowledgeable and so good with children) are top notch Redlandsites, which are the originals. I once came here after a D.C. trip where I spent whatever little time I had meditating at the Lincoln Memorial, then visiting the MLK museum, carrying pennies. (those pennies!) That small, personal journey and the exhibit around BLM, plus visiting after visiting Cooper square in New York felt complete arriving at the Lincoln Shrine in Redlands. l try to walk by or through as often as I can.
Visit this place when you're in Redlands, no matter what state of mind you're in.

Read moreWords cannot describe how much I appreciate this place and the friendly gentleman who stewards guests at this amazing, historical place that honors arguably our greatest president of all time. I wish I remembered the name of the steward as he has additional anecdotal stories and information that enrich the experience of coming here so much more! I spent at least an hour talking with him about the displays and the facility in general. History buffs or, anyone who wants a deeper background and understanding of President Abraham Lincoln would be enriched by the experience of visiting the Lincoln Memorial Shrine..the only Memorial to Abraham Lincoln in the Western United States- west of the Mississippi to...
Read moreThe Lincoln Shrine in Redlands was a real surprise for me. My childhood was spent 15 miles away and I never knew about this Museum / Shrine. Wow! It is very high grade. First the building is a nice granite edifice with carved quotes from Mr. Lincoln all around. The staff is a group of dedicated volunteers that have made this free museum into a showcase of history. There is an original Norman Rockwell inside as well. The interior is spacious and the displays are thoughtful. The only thing I needed was more time to study and read all the displays. This is worth a stop and State Street, a short walk away has many choices for lunch. I hope to return and examine the treasures on display in this...
