This library does not deserve 5 star reviews because of how “beautiful” the building is. Who cares about that, people don’t go to a library to admire the building. I have been to plenty of different libraries, so I know how they are supposed to run. Let me just explain all the cons this place has in hopes people won’t also loose their money -it costs 25 cents a day per book when they are overdue, which might be fine with smaller families, but with a family of 6 getting ten books or so each, that isn’t small money, also when your books are overdue, instead of emailing you or texting you like everyone else does these days, they send you a letter in the mail which takes a few days to get to you, and by the time it does you already have lost 50 bucks. -it costs 75 cents to put one book on hold, ummmmm I’m pretty sure everywhere else in the world has holds for free -their selection of books is pretty small in some areas and if you don’t want to bust open your wallet to put books on hold, you’d better hope you go there at the right time Now every time my family would go to the library, we would have fees in the hundreds, (and we would only be a few days late) we hated this library so much and I actually have more to complain about, but I’m kind of tired of writing all this and remembering the bad memories, so I’m just gonna leave it with this: there are much better libraries is San Bernardino, if you are stuck in this Money magnet, then go find a good library there, there is...
Read moreNOT PART OF SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY LIBRARY CARD SYSTEM. You'll have to purchase a library card for $30 which will be good for your entire household. I recently moved up in the San Bernardino mountains and we got library cards at our local library. We were told they were good for all the libraries in San Bernardino County so I assumed they would be good at this library but they were not. This is not a complaint, just letting others know. I brought my two teenagers for the first time yesterday and we were just blown away by this beautiful building and the more than abundant supply of any and every book you could possibly want! My kiddos picked out a ton of books, and then we were told about the $30 fee. It was just tough at that particular moment as I didn't want to spend the money without seeing that we had it in the budget as my husband is in between jobs. Boy, the kiddos were crushed. They just love to read and we were seriously ready to move in... lol... that's how great this library is. We'll save the money and come back. Downstairs, they have a wonderful "teen underground" section, with group study areas. There's a lovely little bookstore downstairs too. Just highly recommend if you love reading...
Read moreI just noticed this review in my accounts. To see a 5 star rating from me for this library only means that somebody hacked my web accounts. I love towns with quality architectural structures, but honestly, this town doesn't have it. The antique shops are probably awesome. This building, quite frankly, is ugly. I don't see the attraction. At all. Here you go: it's the last day before a two week shut down; not more than 3 people at any time using the computers. My time expires on the computer with 1.5 hrs to go before close; it's down to one other person left with 23 unused computers.. I ask to pay for a guest pass to work on an important project. They wouldn't do it. The county public libraries do give you more time if there's not a gaggle of folks trying to use the computers. All the libraries are closed for two weeks and with 1 of 24 computers in use, they wouldn't give me the pass. I do not think that that makes sense. And librarians act like their in fairyland and are nothing but crochetty. The three fat dumplings there are most definitely on psyche...
