Bar food... expect that... get that! It's that simple! And you can get that here, with a good cocktail, without spending a lot of change!
I usually will take advantage of Groupon offers for random places, to explore surrounding cities and try out new places without too much buyers remorse, so to speak! I always check Yelp first, as long as it has 3 stars, I'm in - why not?? So I purchased a "dinner/drinks for two" deal for less than $20 (value $42) and it finally came time to use it!
Downtown Redlands in itself is a great little place to walk around and explore, so that was a no-brainer! In the same building that houses The District, and somewhere in between A La Minute and Crepes of Wrath, is a doorway leading to a downward staircase which brings you to a full belly and a good time!
The place is dark and some would say intimate, but it's really casual and there are plenty of food/drink options. It's a decent place to relax, have a drink or two, and grab a bite... Easy to hang with friends and actually have a conversation because the background music isn't crazy loud.
Brandy was amazing... She was the only person on duty, besides the cook, up until the time we left! We heard her tell the table next to us that Tuesdays (the night we were there) are one of their busiest nights because they have $2 drafts/wells and live music entertainment in the evening (9PM). Considering how tiny the place is, not sure where they'd perform or what that'd be like.
But burgers and steaks were good... they serve Angus beef.... just a little on the bland side - even just a pinch of salt would have helped. Drinks were great! Brandy was awesome! Groupon was worth it! They give you $42 credit and you order whatever you want, if you go over, just pay the difference.
Worth 3.5 stars but I'll bump it to 4! It was good for what it was... Don't knock it, till you try...
Read moreThis is my second time here for brunch. The first experience was pretty bad. Took about an hour to get the food and everything was cold as if it had sat in the window waiting for pickup. 3 of us ordered Eggs Benedict and the eggs were all overcooked with chalky yolks. We were told they only had one person in the kitchen and they only had one server. I believe they had just changed ownership/management.
We decided to give them another shot a few months later. Same situation. We waited over an hour for our food. We checked in for an eta on our food at about 45 minutes and were given the same story. They only have one person in the kitchen. At least they had two servers and and a busser this time. Food finally came out and it was actually very good this time. Homemade chicken fried steak was delicious. The exceptions were the breakfast burrito and the Eggs Benedict. The eggs b was way overcooked again. The breakfast burrito was good except it had huge pieces of raw jalapeño in it. Another note, one of the plates came with scrambled eggs that were cooked to leather and had shells in them.
This location is great and has potential but management is ruining their chance of success by understaffing the place. The servers and chef shouldn't have to deal with this. It is evident by the attitude of one of the servers that this is standard operating procedures.
Another note, please don't bring a pile of dirty silverware after the food is already on the table and just throw it in the middle...
Read moreI'd avoid this place like the plague if you're in your mid-20s or above.
Definitely a 'just turned 21' or I have a fake ID and am obviously only 19 years old kinda bar.
I'm female and 24 and felt like I was going to get charged with statutory rape just being in there with all the obvious teenage girls.
Karaoke was lame. The DJ favors his friends over newcomers that could become potential regulars and slightly snarky. Not at all helpful. Doesn't have any books. You have to guess what he has. Couldn't tell you how the sound system was on stage cause I chose to leave, but it sounded okay from the audience.
The air conditioning down there is nonexistent. And it was an instant humidity climate change walking down the stairs.
Bartenders were fine. Not overly friendly or chatty which is something I don't mind at all if they are, but they are definitely all about their jobs and getting people their drinks and getting out.
I got beer. Can't go wrong with beer, so my drink was a-okay.
I wasn't there long. I decided to go to Taylors. Older crowd (definitely a lot older with a mix of mid-20s to 50s/60s), but a more relaxed environment for the mid-20s...
