One of rude crew on Redondo Special. Join the Redondo Special boat for many times, and bring friends to this boats too. most of the crew members are friendly. However today met a very rude one. When boat stop a crew member asked me to go to right side, because i had a 180g jig that he afraid is going to tangle with other, while captain is saying everyone fishing on the left side. Im fine with go to left side fishing along. Later a lady tell me to move to right, follow captain direction, said “we are drifting, line will tangle from the right side to the other side”. i told her a crew told me to stay on right side because i have a jig. She asked me twice to move so i go to find a spot near the boat head. Once i drop my jig, a crew member told me its too close to him, ask me to pull up then i start to wheel up right after however its still tangled. Then he start to yelp at me “do something do something… do something “ while I’m working on untangle. And he still keep yelping me “ see, i told you, do something, do something, do something!” even i told him i was following the instructions of the crews to come here, and i resolved the line within a minute. He is keep yelping “go somewhere else or sit in the gallery” and he is keep doing his fishing. I just went along on right side. And tell the lady your another crew member send me back and very rude. Im not enjoying to fish with such rude crew on boat.

My worst fishing experience. The boat trip was booked online without issues. The surprises started right away from the cashier. Renting the rod for 1/2 day will cost you $20.81. But the most exciting part is that you rent the rod without the weights and the hooks. But there is no problem. They have covered you and will sell you the weights and hooks with the rented rod. As you see in the check, you will get 2 packs of different hooks, number 4 and number 1/0, for $12.59. But in reality, they give you only one pack of hooks of size 4 that you will never use because it is super tiny. On the board, you will exchange the small hook for the bigger hook, the size of 1/0, which I already paid for. So basically, the crew member exchanges for what I already paid for. But this is not the end. When you catch the fish, you must buy a sack to keep the fish fresh - that will cost you another $2. The last unpleasant thing was that the crew didn't give me the 1 plastic bag (they had the whole roll) because they didn't clean or fillet my fish for extra money that I already spent on the gear. After all, be ready for the robbery if you don't have your rod and pay around $130 for the half-day + the negativity of the crew. If you rely on the excellent service, this is the wrong place to be. Don't recommend it to anyone.

Came across this place while visiting for work. Initially, I was headed here to rent fishing supplies and ended up going on the whale watching tour. I have never been on a boat in the ocean, and I'm terrified of the ocean, but the manager talked me down from my fears and told me it's not so bad. And it wasn't! It was so fun!! The driver and animal specialists were so nice and educational. We didn't get to see any whales but did see dolphins. At the end the manager was there to greet us off and said ey! You survived! We decided the next day to come back and rent fishing supplies to fish a bit. Great price. Everything we needed was given to us. We got there kind of late due to work, but luckily they have a tour going out late so we got some extra time! I got to come back out for work a few days later with my employees, the manager immediately remembered me! We did the whale tour again, especially as my employees have never been on one. Unfortunately, no whales, but we did see over 2000 dolphins, and that was so freaking cool! Overall, it was a great experience! The manager is extremely friendly, professional, and kind! Absolutely will come back and recommend to everyone!

I called to make my appointment for Whale Watching and the guy on the phone said that the Groupon I purchased was only for Monday to Friday...

This stipulation WAS NOT anywhere on the voucher, even in Fine Print. see below

Had I known this, I never would've purchased.

I let the man know this.

The attitude of the the person on the phone was nasty and dismissive, even when I stated that NOWHERE on the voucher was anything stated about "Monday to Friday" only.

My phone interaction went nowhere, so I wrote them on Instagram, and they read my message (message said "seen") , and rather than reply, THEY BLOCKED ME.

I called them back and let them know that this happened and was treated WORSE.

This is the only time I've ever gone out of my way to write a negative review, but this was the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER SEEN.

The Groupon issue was bad enough, but had there been a more understanding attitude from this company and had they not BLOCKED ME, and simply returned my message, I wouldn't be leaving this review.

These are the rudest people I have ever dealt with.

The last person I spoke to said "just get a refund on Groupon"... Groupon is only offering a credit.

But honestly, it isn't even about refund ... I cannot believe how awful they handle customers.

If I could give ZERO stars, I would.

FINE PRINT OF VOUCHER:

Promotional value expires 180 days after purchase.

Amount paid never expires.

Appointment required.

EDIT: Appreciate Kelly's response. THANK YOU!

One issue, however...

"On Groupon, under the 'what we offer section' it states valid on weekdays only."

  • I have added side-by-side screen grabs of the "What we offer" section from Monday (3/24)... today, I went back to the Groupon page and NOW it's there. (3/27)

I don't know if this was added as a result of my email(s) to Groupon or this was done by the company, but this was not on the Groupon page at the time of...

I looked at about 15 different companies and settled for this one because of location.... we showed up early and the sales guy was nice. I reserved our spots on the boat about 2 days in advance. Very easy to do online. Then we were afraid the boat would be too packed and wouldn't get a good spot to however when you go they give you a slip with a designated # on it. So we had predetermined spots to fish from... "The crew"... I'm going to be as honest as I can.... there were a couple guys who looked like they were not going to be very personable.... However it was the exact opposite, they were amazing.... So friendly... So helpful... I was so pleased with everything they after buying the tickets and renting the poles and buying the licenses for myself and my kids and paying $1.00 to clean each fish and paying for the great food the cooked down in the galley... I left them a decent tip. I can't express how grateful we all are for the experiences we had... The only thing I had an issue with was the the locals who went out with us brought there own poles and tackle, "lures" they would cast there lines overhanded, and I can't tell you how many times they almost hooked us, keep in mind we all have pre determined spots we were supposed to be fishing from... But that wasnt a huge problem. We decided if anyone got hooked we would beat that person and throw them overboard LOL.... But seriously the boats too small to be having people cast thier lines in over handed.... "Don't let that discurage you from going, we just did a lot...
