Very nice people and dogs always at Champion park. But, it's just a field with no fence, so not really a dog park, just a place the city lets you have your dog off leash. It is a very big field they keep mowed, surrounded by a paved walking path, and the elevated dike with grassy walking path borders 2 sides. (The dike goes around most of the city, along Schofield creek, and is walkable. Dogs on leash.) There is a small square fenced area, marked for small dogs only. If there are no small dogs there, I use this fenced area, usually there is one or more dogs that will join. My Great Pyrenees will NOT ever come when called, cannot be off leash unless fenced. There is/was a bench, was nice when they moved it inside the fenced area, but there are complaints that it is sharp metal and it keeps getting removed. There is an agility area in the open field. A bathroom building, water outside for dogs, large parking lot. Just off hwy 101 at the very north end of town, turn at the dispensary &...
Read moreOverall impressions? Dirty, sketchy, and unpleasant. As a new visitor to this dog park, we were unaware that the park is unfenced. There’s one fenced area for smaller dogs. As soon as we drove into the parking lot, we had a dog running up to the car, before we could even get out and get our dog out. Then, as we tried to get to the fenced area, we had to deal with dogs running up to us and mauling us. Their humans didn’t seem to care that we didn’t want their dog jumping on us. The dog also started to get aggressive with ours, and the human didn’t help. We turned ourselves around and left as soon as we could. If you are heading north and need a place to run your dog, go to the dog park in Florence. It is lovely, it’s fenced, and the people are quality. This...
Read moreThank you to the neighborhood for being friendly to RVs and travelers who need to stop for the night in this lot. I am in my fifties and just discovered tonight that I can no longer drive at night in the rain 😂😂 I was scaring myself and annoying other drivers.
Saw this spot mentioned on an rv app and arrived just as it started to hail! I have never been so happy to arrive at a safe haven. I normally would not park right across from single family homes, because I know you don’t know me!. It is tough to remain friendly to outsiders passing through when drugs (and therefore unpredictable behavior) have become so rampant.
I appreciate this town so much. I will grab breakfast and some supplies in the morning to support local shops. Thank...
