Not the best. It's rare to find someone working in the seafood dept. People usually wait or leave. I have left numerous times. The seafood section usually has a bad smell and is not very inviting or presentable compared to other grocery stores. I once watched a woman call Stop & Shop from inside the store at the seafood section and ask that someone be sent over because she had been waiting 10 minutes. I find the produce such as bell peppers are usually soft and wrinkled. The cilantro and the like are not so great either. The self check out is a royal pain in the arse. If you buy something with a reduction yellow sticker on it, you will find yourself in a rabbit hole of madness. The sticker usually doesn't get read on the scanner, and the cashier has to squint to read all the small numbers while the line grows and people complain under their breath. If you're in a self checkout with a yellow tag and it doesn't register and no one is around to help, then forget it. I have left the yellow tag items at the self checkout many times because it's far too much of a hassle. Sometimes, it has been such a hassle for the cashier that they have just given me the yellow tag item for free it was very cheap under a few dollars. Never can find a basket....
Read moreTwo cashiers open at 430 pm on Wednesday. Two huge lines. Called customer service and asked if they could open another register. She said they didn't have anyone else. “Sooorrry!” I’ve worked in retail long enough to know that there SHOULD be someone else who can open a register. You train the floor/stock people how to ring a register. Then if it gets busy you call someone up. There were PLENTY of floor people and I counted at least three manager-type people walking around. You mean to tell me that NONE of these people can ring a register? Hey stop and shop, newsflash..but those people coming through with full carts pay your wages. The customer comes first. “We dont have anyone else” is a bad management. I came here because it was to my house. Hadn't been here in a couple of years. It’ll be a looong time if and when I do come back. Ill make the drive to Market Basket like I have been. Did I also mention that the male cashier did not respond when i said hi. He did not say one word the whole time and looked miserable. This company will not make it into the next decade if they don’t make some changes.
Update 8/2/24 Stopped in here for a few things and nothing has changed. Two registers open, both with no baggers. It is 3:30 pm...
Read moreSo my experience with Stop & Shop recently was that I was confused on the bill the girl at the register who was very miserable didn't say much besides give you an unwelcoming feeling.So she went an got the manager the manager came charging over like a rhinoceros screaming at me at the top of her lungs about the situation trying to embarrass me for know reason she is very argumentative and I was being very polite and cordial I was just confused I wasn't trying to turn the situation into a Jerry Springer Show I've never seen such an unprofessional manager in my life the problem is to is that stop & Shop's not going to reprimand these people the whole place is falling apart the produce are awful it's basically dead produce there selling I'm telling you the shelves are filthy the steaks are overpriced and it's like eating a piece of leather I truly believe that this place is falling apart. We need a Whole foods to come in this area with the new construction...
