Love Smith Park! It's never as busy as Porter Park which is really refreshing sometimes. The paved path that goes around the park and past the veterans memorial has a lot of shaded areas with big trees along the path. In the spring and early summer there are usually multiple kids baseball games going on. During that time it can be really busy on the north side of the park. But the picnic pavilions, tennis court and play ground area aren't as busy. Wild 🦉 Owls can be heard at night in the trees and the landscape of the park are well taken care of by the city. Public bathrooms are locked at night and usually the drinking fountain near the bathrooms don't work. So bring your own water. Plenty of shade at Smith Park...

Half of park is wide open for games, other people 1/2 is wooded with large deciduous trees, so plenty of summertime shade. Veteran's memorial located in park, a large antique fenced off tractor. Also a great paved trail around the whole park, includes going up the hill. A small veteran's memorial is on the far side of the park that is great to visit and introduce the children to. During the summer there is a free lunch program that comes Monday-Friday from 11:30-1 for children 1-18 and sometimes a book bus for free...
