I had a great experience at Mimi’s Salon. I found them on yelp, saw they’re great reviews, and figured I’d give them a try as I was in a pinch and desperately needed a haircut before my brother wedding and my usual girl was not available in the short timeframe. I completely forgot about getting my hair done! So trepidatiously, I ventured out to a new place. When I called to make an appointment the lady who took my call was very friendly and assured me I’d be well taken care of. I was told my appointment would be with Judy. When I arrived I was immediately shown to an available chair and a man asked me what I needed. I was confused as I was expecting a lady named Judy. He told me “Judy is over there.” And pointed her out but she appeared to be taking a break. So I was confused but I went with it. I explained to him that I was nervous to get my haircut from a stranger and that all I really needed was it to be cleaned up with good trim, long layers, and no bangs. He asked me how much do you want to come off and I said 2-3 inches just so you can get rid off all my split ends. I have long soft curly hair. It was to my mid back and just past the nipples in the front. He washed me hair, and it felt good he took care to make sure he washed every strand, and gave a nice scalp massage. Then he took me to the chair and carefully sectioned off my hair, and when he was ready to cut he double checked with me on the amount to clip. It felt like more than 3 inches but when he was finished my hair looked and felt so good. I only deducted a star because my appointment was with originally with Judy, but ended up being with Roy, but he was fantastic. Also there was a little bit of a language barrier so he wasn’t very chatty which I think contributed a little bit to my nervousness because I wasn’t sure if he understood me. But judging from the finished product he understood and did exactly as I asked. Also it was significantly cheaper than my typical hairdresser I was only...
Read moreI am sooo unhappy w/ my haircut. The lady who cut it (they wouldn’t tell me her name but it’s not Anne), has traumatized me. I have never cried & made feel so talked down to. Being a business person myself, it was a whole other level of unprofessionalism. I went to get a “trim & 2 long layers”. I told her few times I don’t want short layers. She started trimming which was fine, then she took some hair & chunked it out. She did it 2x & I asked her I don’t want that short layers. She bent down to my face & said “you want a layers. This is layers. You don’t know. I know” I said not this short. I asked for long 2 layers at bottom. She went to framing my hair & I told her last time I came, Anne did it & she understood. I go on to lift my hair & I said this is not what I asked. Then she goes on to say “Anne - Anne- this lady want ur number” I said please stop I’m not coming here again. She started blow drying & she was hitting her brush on my forehead by my eyes & she totally saw I was getting teary. I told her to stop. And the owner never said sorry knowing what’s going on. I called after & i had to go back for a refund but I chose not to say anything bc ive never seen this kind of unprofessional. The lady was there & never came to say anything which is fine but wow. Wish me well to grow out my hair which takes forever. 😔 I can’t believe this. It’s been a week and I can’t even style my hair right. I went to someone else who helped me blend and correct a little but now I’m just going to have to wait. I am extremely...
Read moreEdit: Yes I am sure that I got my hair done at Mimi’s Salon. I got the treatment early august before school started. I already cut off the dead ends but I don’t know what to do about the part grown out from my roots since all I can do to make it look fine is go over it with a hair straightener. I got the japanese hair straightening treatment here thinking I would get smooth, straight hair, because that is what they told me I would get but my hair was completely ruined instead! To start, they did not protect the ends of my hair at all so I was left with the driest, most crusty ends you could ever imagine. I have been wanting to grow my hair out for so long but now I cannot because I had to cut a whole two inches off when my hair already grows really slow. When they were applying the treatment to my hair part, I was trying to ask them not to brush it a certain direction because that would make it grow out weirdly but they completely dismissed me and continued to do so. Now the part of my hair that grew out is grown out weirdly and it ruins the appearance of my whole hair all due to my stylist’s inattentiveness. I don’t know if this is because of the treatment or not but there are chunks of my hair growing back in the middle of nowhere too because the treatment made my scalp hurt very badly. I worked a minimum wage job and saved for a while to get this overpriced treatment and it was a complete waste. I am very unhappy with my results and I do not recommended this...
