Have you dreamed of nice home cooked Italian meal in a warm cozy diner on a bitterly cold day in Texas? Look no further. Our usual go to place for a good pizza is Canne Rosso. This time the family felt we needed something different to uplift our spirits. Partenope is a gem tucked away in a corner of Richardson that is going through a renaissance of sorts. Two parking spots up front, courtesy of a lazy President's day traffic we got one of them. There is a good sized parking lot at the back. Right after we walked in, we could feel the warmth not just of the AC but of the decor and color palettes and the friendly greeting at the front desk. The booth seating is super comfortable. The music just the right volume. For the appetizers the Frito Misto is a delight - probably the best Calamari I've sampled in the past year. We tried the Montanara pizza. The pizza here is Neapolitan style and 12" - so thin crust lovers and healthy portion fans can rejoice. One of us tried the Ragu Neapolitano Pasta. For salad, you cannot go wrong with the Partenope house salad. Finally we still had room for dessert - try the Sponge cake with Pistachio and cream. The food portions were just right and we walked away not feeling guilty of having overindulged. I thought a lot about writing this review. I have ordered from Partenope countless times via Uber eats, on my birthday I also order so all my friends could try it (I ordered from uber eats since I never got an email response back from catering). I recommended this place to so many pizza fans. I had a great uber eats experience. Last Friday (01/17) I went to the restaurant for a in person experience. I didn’t have a reservation after all I was thinking at 5pm for sure we could/would have a table available. I arrived to restaurant and it was empty as I expected. 3 people sitting at the bar having drinks. The hostess asked if we had a reservation, I looked around at the restaurant and all the tables (no exaggeration) were empty. Then I asked if we could be seated and she assumed we didn’t need a high chair for our toddler. The way she talked to us made us feel kids are really not welcomed there. Then she said she could sit us (it was 5:20) as long we were out of the table at 6. What kind of place gives you a timeline to eat? Also what kind of restaurant loses money over holding empty tables for a whole hours for customers that may or may not show up?
