Update 9.26.24: I was in Dallas again and decided to give this place another shot. They specialize in Bangladeshi food, and I assume the cook is bengali as well, but the staff answering the phone spoke spoke English and Hindi/Urdu, and did not understand Bangla. It made me a bit nervous, as I wasn’t sure if the flavor would meet my expectations, but I ordered with high hopes. We tried the Dhaka Kacchi (Goat) and Chameli Kacchi.

The Dhaka Kacchi Biryani was great—exactly what we were craving and something we haven’t been able to find in Austin. Was it the best I’ve ever had? No, but it definitely satisfied our cravings and was well-prepared overall. If you’re looking for authentic Bangladeshi-style Kacchi Biryani, this is the one to get.

Now, onto the Chameli Kacchi. This was more like Morog Pulao with goat. I enjoyed it, as I love the aroma of Morog Pulao and hadn’t had it in years. However, if you're expecting a traditional Bangladeshi Kacchi Biryani, you’ll be disappointed. Only order this if you’re in the mood for Morog Pulao with goat.

Lastly, a relative brought us Chameli’s Goat Biryani. It was decent, though a bit on the dry side. There was a good amount of meat, which we all enjoyed, but it wasn’t anything special that you couldn’t find elsewhere.

Overall, the biryanis were pretty tasty, and I’ll definitely be ordering the Dhaka Kacchi again.

Prior review: Out of towners wanting Bangladeshi foods. We called ahead and asked which Biryanis they have and they confirmed.

Arrived and ready to order. There's no table service so ordered upfront.

We ordered the Chameli Biryani. They don't have it until 4pm. Why didn't you say that when we called earlier?

We ordered the pomfret. They don't have it. Jeesh, what do you have? There were no other customers. They showed no interest in us as customers. What a miserable place. We cancelled our order and left. For Bangladeshi foods, go to Spice and Rice Indian Cuisine just 3 minutes away. Avoid Chameli...

We ordered several dishes for take out. The chicken lollipop or butterfly chicken was raw inside. It wasn’t undercooked. It was raw. I had already taken a bite, when I noticed, because the texture was so strange. We live 20 minutes away, but we’re told we needed to bring it back for a replacement. Why would I want a replacement? I called and told them that I didn’t want anyone else to get sick, and was concerned about the well being of their restaurant. The managers (I spoke with more than one) were extraordinarily rude, and didn’t believe that their chicken could be raw. They refused a refund without seeing the chicken. While I understand why, I can’t believe the arrogance and the lack of concern about something that’s a big deal. Raw chicken is no joke. Additionally, the quality of their food has gone downhill. While it’s always been hit or miss, it’s gotten worse. *Response to owner -The managers didn’t understand me, and were patronizing from the beginning of our conversations. I didn’t threaten to close the store. I said that I had called out of concern of what would happen if someone got sick, as I wouldn’t want their store to be shut down. I said that after their responses, I no longer cared whether their store was shut down. His response to this was that I was threatening him. He told me I could bring the chicken back for a replacement. I told him I don’t want a replacement, this belongs in the toilet. He laughed at me and asked how I could bring it back if it was in the toilet. I’m sorry that he didn’t take the time to process what I said. I didn’t ask for a refund for the whole meal, just the chicken. The managers’ said that they don’t know whether their people are being truthful, as they have been cheated before. While I understand that they’ve had bad experiences, and I’m sorry about that. I think it’s unfortunate that they approach their customers with an assumption of dishonesty. It’s...
