Where creativity goes to die.
Me and my wife decided to take part in their "claydate" class in which you are given a lesson in throwing pottery on an actual wheel, which we thought would be an amazing experience, we were wrong. We got the pleasure of doing our class with the owner who upon seeing us (fully tattooed, long hair etc) judged us immediately. We both immediately felt unwelcome but said screw it we will give this the old college try. She asks us what music we wanted to hear, then after promptly ignoring my wife's perfectly timed ghost sound track joke,
"we" decided on soft rock I guess?!?! That's kinda how the night went.
Everything we did was wrong and she was more than excited to correct us. We start on the wheel and I'm not operating it correctly even though she told me that one is older and hard to handle. She "taught" us first so we watched her use the smallest amount of clay to make a bowl, and when I say small that's not just me saying that, that is her. She kept saying "normally I don't work this small" and "you could see it better if I hadn't done this so small" . We literally couldn't see anything she was doing and stated this and she just brushed it off. Now it's our turn, and to be honest I have never felt that small, and stifled creatively. EVERYTHING we did was wrong and not for lack of trying but anytime anything went wrong she would push us to the side and do it for us... That's not a class. Fast forward and this hell has only lasted 30 mins or so and SHE suggests we do something else because we still have so much time left. I really would have rather ran into traffic but since I paid and she was very adamant, we did. She suggested hand made mugs and I thought, screw it we do art we can at least make this fun...NOPE.... Again, everything we did was wrong. "That's not gonna look right, let me do it" . "Why would you make it like that" and my favorite which she KEPT saying was "I'll just do it, I don't want to be here all night". All in all a Terrible experience. We left beaten down, and exhausted.
Being berated, and talked down to really takes it out on you I guess haha sadly the story isn't over because we had to come back to paint and again that was terrible 🤣
We show back up on our anniversary (I know I know terrible choice) but we are very busy people and again we both do art so we thought there is no way this can be not fun and surely she won't be there... Wrong again. She was at it again. Your doing this wrong, why'd you do it like that. When I literally did exactly what she said. Awful experience.
And to top it all off, after all that BS she put us through she then blamed ME for the cup "I" made (for my mother i may add) cracking and now not able to hold water.... Like lady you made that cup 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm not here to blast every employee there because we literally only dealt with the owner but man was that a horrible experience 🤣
If you are into being treated like a child, constantly reprimanded, and all the creativity sucked out of you, this is the...
Read moreI made an appointment with this store to make pottery a week ago. I drove back and forth for an hour and after a week they found that there was no firing at all. What did you say that the cook left a week ago? Is it a joke to keep the phone number without notifying the customer? What did you say when you got to the store? the burning teacher left a week ago? Then why didn't you know that the phone told the customer in advance?Even if I left the phone, they didn't know to call the customer to explain the situation. They didn't say your stuff was fired until I got to the store. Knowing that this item is going to take part in the exhibition competition, what will it be like to deliver it in a week, get it or what? Ask their clerk and say they don't know and are not...
Read moreI love the relaxed atmosphere of Midnight Star Pottery. There is a wide variety of projects in all different price ranges to choose from and you don't feel pressured at all to "hurry up" and get your piece completed. As a matter of fact, I know that to complete my piece, it will take me many more than one visit. If you feel that the prices of the unpainted pieces is high, you must remember that the price includes all of the paint and materials you want to use, as much time as you want to take, as well as the glazing of your piece, on top of the piece itself. Really, very reasonably priced, especially because they have flowers to paint starting only at $3, and that still includes everything from...
