7/2/22- Found a medal rack in the middle of lawn and garden full of wreaths all marked 14.99. Went to pay in lawn and garden and the wreath rang up $22.99. I told the cashier Mary Ann that was not the correct price, she was dismissive of my concern. I decided to avoid further interaction with her because she didn't care and I wasn't getting correct service to go home and call a manager when I had time later that day.I didn't want to walk all the way to the customer service desk when I was pressed for time. She didn't not offer to call anyone for a price check. She told me after I paid I could go to customer service. I was pressed for time, and upset and didn't want to interact with anyone further at that time. I called about 45 mins after my 20 mile trip home to talk to a manager. The manager said I had to talk to a lead in lawn and garden. I talked to Stephanie who was lead of lawn and garden. She helped me verify that there was price tags in all areas of that rack soley all $14.99. She told me to bring in my receipt and I could get the difference. She later called back and said she was told by management I could not get the difference once I left the store. I spoke to two other managers lastly Roman he told me I could not get my $8 difference because the skew numbers didn't match, they could not make any exception and was not willing to do anything. He basically stated it was my issue and fault because I didn't match the skew number to the price tag listed all on the medal rack. First, when I buy something I look at the price not the skew number. It is the stores job to make sure items are placed correctly, not the customer. Second, any other store I have been to will acknowledge the mistake and give the difference, then correct the prices listed on the items. What they did was wrong, poor business, and just shows the incompetence of not just Mary Ann the cashier, but the person who displayed the product, and the managers lack of control to make the customer happy, to make the employees do their job correctly, and the fact he didn't have any authority to make a $8 correction is lack of control. According to him corporate wouldn't allow him to make a price difference because the skew number didn't match. It is just POOR business. I would highly recommend going to Lowe's down the street. I'm certain thier managers are in more control of there workers and have the authority to make an $8 adjustment. Or please make sure you check the numbers of the skew to the price tag. Also apparently they encourage personal confrontation at their store because they said to once I paid for it and left the store they could not do anything. I'm getting two stories, no results. I am sorry I didn't cuss and scream and throw a fit in the store. Apparently only people who act like that they support and provide service to. One more thing unrelated, I don't think it wise to allow a pitbull who is not a service dog in the store. It seems Menards likes taking risk to loose customers or get sued. Such a disappointment. I called corporate. They were not open. You could not even leave a message and of course they were closed on the 4th. Oh, boy such a lack of business skills and professionalism. I will not do business with people who are not capable to do business. They have lost me as a customer.
2018-The manager Ken at the service desk was very demeaning towards me when I inquired about a rebate I was to get on a 5 gallon bucket of paint. The paint department territory manager Mike was the one who helped me get the paint. Turns out Mike grabbed the wrong paint, and made it for me. On that paint there was no rebate. This is the second time within a month a manager was rude and treated me in a poor manner. On a good note the gentleman in the door section was...
Read moreOver the last 4 years we've spent a lot of money at Menards and always had really great service. Up until September 13th when we placed an order for a door period it was to be delivered to the store October 13th. On October 20th we called to find out where our door was and it was marked received and picked up. Obviously we didn't pick it up so we need to find the door right? No one knew where the door was period so they did a reorder and said it would be in in 2 weeks. When I called back to talk to a manager he stated that it would be another month and a half or two before we would ever get our door in. No one was willing to make this right or try to find another answer sorry I asked for a refund . He couldn't put it back on my Menards card period so I had to go pick it up for cash. He told me to go to the wrong counter and I stood there for 20 minutes only to be told to go to a different counter. When I got there he was there waiting for me and told me that he specifically told me to go to the other counter and I told him he was wrong he proceeded to argue with me. My point of story is the customer is never right at this location. Or atleast with store manager Chad. If I have to go back to a Menards I will drive to the city instead of going...
Read moreI jumped into Menards just to do some window shopping and grab a few miscellaneous items. While I was there. I probably ran into (not literally LOL) no less than 6 of here employees.
Without exception, EVERY SINGLE ONE of those employees was beyond friendly, helpful, cheerful and basically the best CRS/Sales Reps I’ve ever seen. No matter how dumb the question was they were absolutely cheerful. One person went so far above and beyond that he deserves a call out: this young man Noah want out of his way to help me, almost literally dropping what he was working on to help me.
With so much bad service these days I’m retail, it was incredibly refreshing to get such good service. Managers are SO used to getting complaints, so he was wary after I asked to speak with a manager aster checking out. When I told him I wanted to compliment them and the service, you could see both the relief, the pride. He/they gave me a form to submit to corporate, which I will DO, but being able to give good news to a store manager instead of anKaren complaining was reward in itself.
So if you are in Richmond and need construction materials, etc, I highly recommend Menards over the Big Orange Chain (you know...
