Obviously, most who reviewed are only reviewing based on their experience as a normal consumer, therefore not critiquing the cinema’s audio and visual capabilities.
I have to start off by saying that relatively speaking, this Bow Tie Cinema location is above average, which is saying something. It is a cool idea to repurpose the building, as it used to be a train station, but sadly, the auditoriums say otherwise.
Pros: -Decently sized screen, comparable to Regal -The audio was a bit lacking, but the bass compensated a little* It was there and thumpy, but it did not slam my chest nor did it go too deep (reference for auditoriums should be 30-35 Hz. This felt more like the upper 30 to low 40 range.) -Pretty spacious auditorium
But here’s where it gets below average, Cons: -Uncomfortable seats that are pretty firm and dont recline. The row in front of you is pretty close, so if you’re tall, your legs will suffer -Bad visuals. It seems that the projector they use is in need of an upgrade, as I noticed a rainbow effect in some scenes, as well as dark colors not performing too well. -Their enforcement of cracking down on rude people during a movie was practically non existent. There were many people either talking or whispering which was incredibly distracting. Also, there was one guy who was using his phone for a majority of the movie, but the worst part was that he has his brightness all the way up. This created a massive glare, having to deal with that headache was not fun. I was just hoping an employee would come in and stop the rudeness. -Man oh man, do I love surround sound and my bass, but it was just not there and I cant justify coming here again for that sole reason. Really, the only reason I would go to the cinemas is to be immersed by those breathtaking visuals and the hyper-realistic audio that makes it seem like you are in the film’s environment.
I traveled to this theater from Springfield, VA being a 2 hour drive, as it was the only one showing The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in Virginia at the time. However, seeing as the cons outweigh the pros, it doesn’t make sense for me to come back here as a movie buff and audiophile, especially considering the fact it is too far. If I lived in Richmond, I would only buy a ticket to admire the remodeled railway station, but god forbid I step foot in one of their auditoriums again where there are rude guests, the visuals aren’t good, and the audio is below...
Read moreI was extremely disappointed in the way the customer services staff addressed a potential problem and how they treated me.
Last night I went to see Pet Sematary here. About an hour and 15 minutes into the movie, two men walked in together, one in an arm sling. They looked around at the crowd for a good 15 seconds, and sat a large distance away from each other on opposite sides of the theatre. One of them sat behind my boyfriend and I. Then after a couple of minutes, they got up again and were staring at my boyfriend and I. Then one of them let the theatre. This made me very uneasy because of recent shootings happening around the country.
I left the theatre to talk to customer service. As I was walking to the desk, a couple behind me stopped me and asked me if I was in the Pet Sematary movie theatre. I said yes, and they also were on their way to say something to customer services about the men.
When I got up to the desk with the couple I talked to, I explained to the woman working about the problem and how I was scared. She seemed annoyed with me and said she could not refund my ticket. I told her I did not want a refund, I wanted someone to go check the theatre to make sure it was safe for everyone inside. The couple also expressed their uneasiness. After arguing with her for a good 5 minutes, she rolled her eyes at me and went into the theatre. Another man working at the desk asked if he could help me. I explained the situation again and he did not say anything back to me and kept working... also seemed to have the same annoyed attitude.
The couple who was with me were so upset that they ended up just walking out of the facility.
I know I will not be coming back to this movie theatre as safety is not a priority here as well as making the customer feel welcomed and...
Read moreThis was our first visit to this theater in a long time. We love Cinebistro but the movie we wanted to see was only showing here. They have some nifty new procedures. They have always had ticketing online, and now they have preorder concessions. This let's you avoid waiting in line. And so it begins. We went to the pickup area to get our food. There was one person ahead of us, already being served. When we reached the counter, the guy who was handling the area looked at us and walked away. He came out with food and started calling numbers. Ok, there are people who put in food orders that had to be cooked and he was calling them over to retrieve it. Understandable. We are still waiting to be acknowledged. Someone walks up to the side of the counter and asks for something. Hello? There's a line, albeit an ignored one. She gets what she wants and then someone else walked up and did the same thing. After the fifth time, I'm done. I yelled OH MY GOD!!!! He finally came over and said, do you have a mobile order. Umm, YEAH. He looked at the order, just popcorn and two sodas, he said, "I'll make it now." So much for the theory of ordering agreed for no wait. The one thing I like(d) about this theater is that you can put your own butter on your popcorn so you get the amount you like. When I walked over to the buttering station, it was so filthy that I was afraid to touch anything. Food spilled all over the place, no napkins, I did have a napkin on me which I used to press the butter button. While we standing there waiting to be seen, I heard several people in line complaining about the service. I had to use the rest room after the show and it was disgusting. This movie lover will never return to this theater complex. I will be the first signer on a petition to raze it...
