First Congregational Church — Attraction in Riverside

Very beautiful architecture and right at the heart of the city I’m glad to see a house of God, but as a true believer of the Bible and Gospel the sermons from the woman pastor (which is wrong per 1Tim2:12) are fraught with straight up falsities to the level of lying. She twists scripture to the point of leading people to a belief that hell is not real and just a symbol despite the very clear language of the bible that seperation from God due to sin is a very real thing and the state of separation is akin to eternal torture. I told her after in private confrontation that her position is untenable with the text and that false teachers will be afforded particularly strict judgement (2 Peter), but she pridefully scoffed and shooed me away saying she studied the Bible in college! Haa! What good that’s done for her, she wears lgbt vestments and hold gay weddings while preaching from a book that explicitly calls the union unnatural Romans 1:26-28 and although liberal ‘scholars’ like to pretend otherwise, the book affirms they will not see heaven 1...

This is a wonderful, historic church that forms an essential part of the downtown fabric of Riverside. It’s the oldest church congregation in the city, founded in 1872. The current, picturesque Mediterranean Revival building is more than a century old, is a National Historic Landmark, and was designed by the architects of part of the Mission Inn as well as the Rose Bowl.

The congregation is progressive, yet the services are very traditional, with a choir, organ, and hymns. Every Wednesday, the church has a free medical clinic on its grounds. The church is a wonderful mix of history, idealism, love, and tolerance.

One wonderful part of this church is that at the end of your visit, you can walk across the street and enjoy the late morning at the Mission Inn.

Finally, the church is trying to raise $400,000 to restore its historic bell tower, which is currently under a shroud. The downtown community is well-served by this church and its beautiful tower. Come by and visit and, if you can, please make a donation to reinforce and preserve this...

Very very nice church. Beautiful outside and beautiful on the inside. Very big and spacious with a lot of sitting arrangements. A beautiful choir and a great pastor. Always a great service and always very welcoming to all of it is new arrivals. I recommend it to a lot of people that are visiting Riverside or are from Riverside to come and spend some time at the First Congregational Church. You will not be disappointed. You will love every moment and every second of it. Very peaceful and nice people. Also great members in the church. They provide great service.
