There is a huge difference between riverside and San bernardino.... Riverside needs to get it together, BADLY!!! I've heard the jokes about Riverside Court, but I never truly understood them until I had a bizarre back-to-back experience with both Riverside and San Bernardino courthouses. The contrast was incredible. My first court date was in Riverside. I arrived early but couldn't find any reasonable parking. Since I have a rare condition that makes me dizzy and faint after more than 10-15 minutes of sun exposure, I had to reschedule. The next day, my San Bernardino court date was at 8:30 a.m. I got there a little late but found a parking spot right in front of the courthouse. The judge was one of the most pleasant, respectful people I've ever met. He called it "rapid court" and prioritized people who were actually there in person over the lawyers. It was so efficient that I was in and out in less than an hour and was back home in Riverside by 9:30 a.m. My second trip to Riverside Court was the next day, and it was a complete nightmare. It took me 30 minutes to find a far-away parking spot, and since San Bernardino doesn't have parking meters, I didn't have any change and was worried about a $100 ticket. My court time was scheduled for 7:30 a.m., but we weren't even let into the courtroom until 9:30 a.m., and the judge didn't show up until 10 a.m. The courtroom was packed, and I was forced to sit next to a homeless woman who was visibly ill. As someone with a frail immune system, I couldn't risk getting sick, but I still offered to get her some clothing after court. The judge ignored all of us who showed up and only spoke with lawyers. After she had only been present for about 15 minutes, she called a 15-minute recess. At that point, I got so frustrated that I left. I risked a warrant for my arrest, but it was clear the judge had no regard for the people or their time. I think maybe this judge let's her ego get to her head and I'm hoping the other judges aren't this rude. I showed up to Riverside twice and accomplished nothing, but San Bernardino took care of my case within an hour. Riverside truly needs to learn a lesson in efficiency and respect from San Bernardino. It’s strange because San Bernardino is known for being a rough city, yet they still manage to be efficient and respectful to the people they serve. My experience left me with a new fondness for San Bernardino Court and a terrible taste in my mouth...
Read moreIts court man. Do people really expect it to be Disneyland. I've done jury duty here, I've been convicted of 2 DUI's here, and I come once a month to make payments. Honestly, the judge that I had was pretty fair. I think they prefer jail deterrence more than a lot of other counties. Honestly, the picking of the jury could be a little more hurried, but hey, I've only done it one time so how do I know? And as far as making payments, I'm always in and out within 7 minutes. The clerks are very quick and don't judge.Well, most of them. The room where you set up payments (first door on the right as soon as you walk in) made some really inappropriate comments I didn't appreciate. Things along the lines of "hey, would you want to see how much more it would be if you go out and get a 3rd DUI" and "they say 3rd time is a charm, (something else about getting a 3rd DUI) " We all make mistakes. We are there doing what we have to in order to move on. Us "criminals" do not need to be reminded of our mistakes, or have them thrown in our face. The biggest complaint I have about the place is parking. You have to pay to park anywhere. Even my attorney was upset that we had been ordered to go here because even he has to pay the parking fee. First 20-30 mins is free, after that, the price racks up. If you're doing jury duty though, it's free. Overall, its a lot better than most court houses aside from the parking, but like I said, we can't expect it to be...
Read moreI'm here for jury duty and I understand it's a courthouse there's not much to it. But if you know how many potential jurors are told to come in, you'd think there would at some point be a big enough area for those potential jurors to wait ALL DAY (to include lunch) to be called to a panel.
I'm a female, and I'm not even expecting any person (to include men) to give me their seat because I'm sitting on the floor. But I shouldn't be sitting on the floor. 🤣 I've been here since 8am its now 1337, and before they dismissed us for lunch at 1200, I found out there's a whole 1200 group that comes in.
So there goes all those empty seats. It's madness. Also no one reimburses you for parking, unless you're an official juror but then you have a parking slip on your notice that you can use for parking. There's designated juror parking lots and a trolley.
This process is a bit ridiculous to me in my opinion, but other than that the courthouse is clean. I haven't used their restroom...
