If You're Thinking of Purchasing an IKEA Kitchen, Please Read This First
We’ve been designing and planning our new kitchen for several years and finally placed our order for an IKEA kitchen a few months ago. We scheduled all items to be delivered well in advance of our remodel start date. Unfortunately, we now deeply regret choosing IKEA for this project.
Our kitchen order was split into three separate deliveries. The first two arrived on time as scheduled. However, the third and most critical delivery was delayed by two weeks. Then, on the new delivery date, nothing arrived. The day before it was supposed to be delivered, we noticed the status still said “pending,” so we contacted customer service—only to learn that the items hadn’t even been shipped. The new estimated delivery date was now another month away. No one had informed us of this delay. Had we not called ourselves, we would’ve had no idea.
By this point, our renovation was already in full swing, and our existing kitchen had been completely gutted. We’re now left without a working kitchen, only a portion of our new IKEA kitchen components, and still missing thousands of dollars' worth of essential items.
The delay has caused significant disruption and added costs to our project. Every customer service representative we’ve spoken to has blamed a warehouse fire, which apparently affected inventory. While we understand that unexpected issues can happen, the complete lack of communication is unacceptable—especially given the scale and importance of a kitchen renovation.
To make matters worse, we’ve now been told that some items are on backorder, will be canceled from our order, and refunded. We were told to “keep checking the website” in case they come back in stock so we can try to reorder them. How are we supposed to install a kitchen that arrived incomplete? Unfortunately, neither IKEA customer service nor the staff at IKEA Pittsburgh have been helpful. Their response has mostly been to reiterate the warehouse issue and ask us to keep waiting. We’ve had good experiences with IKEA in the past, which makes this experience all the more disappointing—especially for a multi-thousand-dollar purchase.
If you’re considering an IKEA kitchen, I strongly urge you to explore other options. Any cost savings we expected have been completely wiped out by delays, added costs, and stress. If someone had warned us of this possibility, we would’ve absolutely chosen a different route.
This entire process has been a nightmare.
**edit to add an update - It turns out many of the missing items were in stock at the Cincinnati store, however, IKEA customer service refused to have the items sent to us and expedited. We were told we could place a new order and have items arrive in July (2 months away). I had to take a day off work, rent a vehicle and drive from Pittsburgh to Cincinnati and back to get the items. We are still missing some items from the order but at least now we can try to continue with some of this remodel. We’ve asked IKEA to reimburse us for the rental vehicle and travel costs but aren’t getting responses. I truly can’t express enough how horrible this entire experience has been. If you are considering an IKEA kitchen please please please consider all your options before going with them. It’s not worth...
Read moreOriginal order 468812185 was placed on December 18, 2024 with a documented delivery date of 2-4-25. This was done by Adriana Castillo. I have all the emails documenting this. Everything was in stock except the item she gave me on another list. She monitored this and when they became available I placed an order on January 21st, 2025. Order number 469875693. With delivery scheduled for 3/18/25. At this point my understanding was these items are available to be delivered on said dates.
Monday Feb 3rd I got an email from LMPro saying my order had failed. Didn’t say much else. I called them and they said that they have not got the items from IKEA for the delivery. I called IKEA and the agent said everything was in order and to disregard this email and it should be delivered on 2-4-25.
Come 2-4-25 I have someone here for the delivery, no delivery ever came. I called IKEA and spoke to Amber that evening. She informed me the truck had an issue and she could reschedule the delivery for 2-18-25. I agreed to this.
On 2-5-25 around 8AM I got a text message saying my order could not be delivered and it was rescheduled for 3-4-25. This is unacceptable and I called in once again. Now more irritated, this agent said the issue was with the delivery company and he would have them call me to see if a expedited delivery could be made. I asked when they would call, he said within an hour. This call ever came. I called the number he provided me and spoke to a female agent there. She informed me that many IKEA reps don’t know what they are doing or much of anything. She told me IKEA never delivered my ordered items to their warehouse. I thanked her and called IKEA, once again.
I spoke to Trina at 10:55AM which was actually able to shed some light on this issue. She informed me the items where not even in the IKEA distribution center. At this point after receiving nothing but conflicting statements, lies, incompetence, etc….I cancelled both orders and demanded a full refund. It took her almost an hour to process this request. She said she had to speak to managers, etc… She informed me that the original date was a preliminary delivery date. I was NEVER informed of this by Adriana nor was it on any of my documents I received by email. I certainly was not led to believe this was the case.
About $8500 of product was supposed to be delivered and you did not. The treatment of me as a customer is reprehensible and almost criminal. Lies, incompetence, no knowledge, etc….IKEA should be ashamed of this episode.
Accepting people’s money, not keeping dates, then kicking me down the road is a breach of contract. Probably all illegal. IKEA should be out of business with idiots running the place like this.
I am awaiting my refunds to be processed...
Read moreMy fiancé and I just left this store after spending quite a bit of money there. We had our service dog with us. He was working and minding his own business. Everything went well until we got to self checkout.
We were almost done scanning everything when this employee from the other lane sees our dog and comes over to tell her coworker working OUR lane about fake service dogs. She said that some people buy the vest and try to pass off their dog as service dogs. She said she read an article about it yesterday and how something needs to be done about these dogs. She then says that they by law have to wear a vest and some people come in without them and the whole time she was looking at us. Just FYI, they BY LAW do not need a vest. Our dog was wearing his vest because we don’t want people coming up to him while he’s working. He wasn’t bothering anyone or anything and all of her actions were so unwarranted.
She was very aggressive and loud to where everyone turned and stared at her and us. It was embarrassing. Her coworker working our lane looked mortified she was even saying this out loud and in front of us and tried diffusing the situation once she saw I was visibly upset. Lucky for the other employee she calmed me down enough to not jump over to the other side and give that woman a piece of my mind.
Those that have service dogs, be weary of this store as they are not service dog friendly. This woman even looked like a total Karen and was white, slender, short, old, and had a short brown pixie cut. You will know you’ve run into her when she has some bone to pick with you too. I never leave reviews but this had to be said for those like me who have service dogs.
If you encounter a white woman with short blonde hair to her shoulders, she was the nice one & I’m glad she was there to diffuse the situation.
Normally I wouldn’t think much of the situation, but it was the way she said what she said and how aggressive she was and how she took time out of her day to do this. I hope I run into her again because next time if she does it, I will give her a piece of my mind and show her the ADA Law that I carry with me...
