Check-in was smooth and we were assigned a room on the second floor, #242 if I recall correctly. The reason I may not recall exactly is that we did not stay in that room. When we opened the door to the room we instantly witnessed the room was not cleaned; food bags laying around, bed messed, etc, obviously not cleaned from the previous guests. The cleaning crew was on the floor cleaning rooms and from what we could estimate based on their location and the opened doors, there were only 2 rooms cleaned at that time. This was after the standard check-in time. I went downstairs to the desk to request a different room that had been already cleaned. One of the cleaning staff had met me down there at the same time and suggested to the front clerk room #251, as she had cleaned that one already. We were running late for a concert that evening so we dropped the bags in the new room and left right away. Upon our return and settling in, we witnessed the worst room we have ever stayed in. A very significant section of the ceiling was rough patched with plaster, and appeared to be the 3rd fix based on the layering and different sections that had been patched; this is from assumed water damage based on the staining and overall look of some it it being painted over, but most was not. This certainly left a question in our minds whether it would get worse or start leaking with the probability of rain the forecast that night. There was staining on the wall from what looked like someone dropped some of the plaster or paint and didn't clean it very well. When we closed the curtain sheers, both were ripped in several areas. In the bathroom there was no cover on the recessed light and fan, leaving electrical wires and the fan blades exposed. The most minor item was the rusted tissue holder, which acknowledging it is a bathroom with water, however this was very aged and deserving of replacement after what I assume is 15+ years. One of the bedside night stands had dripping stains down the front, as well as what appeared to be old nail polish dropped on it. The nail polish was also on the carpet. The floor/subfloor was very noisy creaky/squeaky and had some minor bounce. This was also apparent in the hallway so you heard step anyone took in hallway; and I am not suggesting there was any running or jumping, this was normal people just walking down the hallway. The AC unit was propped up on 2x4 timber pieces, which were wedged under the unit and on top of the wiring. The overall age of the carpet and room gave the impression that if we were to ever get bedbugs, this was the place. If we were so exhausted from driving 8 hours and then attending a local concert until midnight that first night, there probably would have been discussions with the management on site, however our circumstances didn't allow for that. I took a few photographs we left of the conditions discussed above and happy to provide them if requested. My wife and I wouldn't stay there again if it was free. There isn't enough space to write how extremely disappointed we were with the room quality, cleanliness, and...
Read moreThis place might as well be called Cesspool Inn. But, before I get too far ahead of myself, let’s start with the good: checkin was easy and the staff was friendly-ish. They offer an airport shuttle, but only if you survive the night. They also offer continental breakfast - again, must survive the night to enjoy the breakfast.
Now the bad: make your way down the stained carpet hallway to the staircase used in one of scenes of Saw IV Then cut through a barely lit lobby that looks like it belongs in a condemned funeral home. Then get to your room where the aroma takes you back to the late 90s when chain-smoking bowling leagues ruined your 12 year old birthday party by smoking Pall Malls & Virginia slims all night. Immediately realize that the cleaning staff’s vacuum must’ve been broken, so they swept the floors with 2 wet towels. The green comforters weren’t so comforting as they had mystery stains and a cigarette burned hole in one. What are the stains on the wall and carpets? They’re the remains of the stink bug carnage left by the flip-flop wielding housekeepers. But don’t worry, they didn’t all die - there was at least one live stink bug crawling around the microwave. Calling Choice Hotels to make a complaint will only leave you on a vicious cycle of empty apologies, promises of documentation, but no ability to refund your money. As you wait for your Uber to pick you up to take you to another hotel, two tweakers playing illegal gambling machines in the hotel lobby get into an altercation and the man punches the woman in the face. As you try to check in on her, she gets defensive, and he gets confrontational as he threatens to beat you up. And hotel Managment only responds by saying the games are “temporarily out of service”, but not addressing the problem.
All in all, I’ll let you decide if it’s worth saving money for an overnight or two. But, we were relieved to get in the Uber and get out of there. As we settle into our new clean, well maintained hotel room, we’re still wondering if what we saw on the surface of the safe in the old hotel room was splattered blood or someone’s spilled V8 fruit drink. I guess...
Read moreFirst and foremost, I want to say that Kathy was wonderful when I spoke to her during the reservation process. As was the young woman who checked us out very early in the morning when we were leaving. Both VERY friendly and helpful.||Other than those two exceptional women, I was disappointed with our stay. We opted for the 'Park, Sleep and Fly' package because we had a flight very early the next day. The hotel itself is pretty bare bones, but that's ok if you are just looking for a basic bed due to an early flight. By looking at the reviews here, I notice that that is why most people are choosing to stay here so it just doesn't make sense as to why there isn't an elevator! Most people will be bringing several pieces of luggage with them and it was not fun to try to get everything up 2 flights of steps and then back down again at 5am! I was traveling with older parents and knowing this, I would have reserved another hotel. ||Secondly, I was most disappointed in the shuttle service from the airport to the hotel upon our arrival back in Pittsburgh. The Quality Inn states that once you call for the shuttle it would take 5-30 minutes for pickup. It was late when we got in, and we were tired and waited almost AN HOUR for the shuttle! We saw several other hotel shuttles, parking lot shuttles, off-site parking company shuttles, etc, come and go several times, but we continued to wait in the cold. Once it finally arrived, we find out that it also services SEVERAL other hotels in the area so took almost another 40 minutes to makes its rounds and then finally get back to the Quality Inn! ||While waiting in the cold and talking to others, we learned that other hotels only shuttle for their hotel and the service is much quicker due to that. I think the Quality Inn could improve on this by possibly adding another shuttle and driver to better accommodate...
