Village Green used to be our go to place for patio furniture, but not anymore after the debacle that we have been through. We bought some custom patio furniture at VG a year ago, and wanted to add a couple more matching pieces. We went there in March to place our order for two chairs and a table. When it came to placing the order, they said to pay in full? I inquired because we have always paid half, and the other half on delivery; but I paid it anyway. This was March 24th, and VG said it would be 6-8 weeks. We heard nothing after waiting 8 weeks, so I called and was assured that nothing was wrong or out of the ordinary. I was told that I would recieve a call from someone because he would check and get back to me. I called again at week 9 and was told the same thing. I called again at week 10 and this time a nice girl said she would call the manufacturer and email me when she finds something out. She emailed me and told me my furnitrue was never ordered and she apologized for the time between my payment and the order. A person higher up the chain was cc'd on the email and he contributed that he was sorry and that as soon as the guy (who was orginally supposed to call me) gets back from medical leave he would call me to fill me in on what happened. A few days later, the manager called me to tell me that she was sorry that my furniture didn't get ordered but it is now; 11 weeks after I originally ordered and paid for it. She also said it was the manufacturers fault, not VG. I asked to view the emails that confirmed that information and she refused to share them. Fast forward 6 weeks and we get a call on a Monday morning that the furniture is in and they would like to deliver it. No call the week before to set up a delivery time, just we'd like to get it to you today. So I changed my schedule for the 9:00 am delivery. I received a call from the delivery people that they were lost. I told them there were probably at 917 West, not 917 East. So they arrived a few minutes later and opened up the van and brought out my two chairs and table. I looked and asked about all of the cushions that go with the chairs and they said "oops." "We will go back and get them." I could wait at home three more hours until they could go back to VG and deliver them! I guess it was a fitting end to a complete disastor of a purchase. After all of that, I still did not recieve a call or apology from anyone after the final delivery. We will never step foot in there again. I feel sad about that. We have bought plants, patio furniture, BBQ supplies, and even a couple of Christmas trees. But no more...
Read morePoor quality merchandise and a very disappointing customer service experience lead to this review. I have been a customer of Village Green's for many years and I have spent a lot of money there, but no longer. I bought a cement statue from them a year ago as a Mother's Day gift for my Mom. It was around $60.00. This spring it had broken into many pieces. Turns out the statue is hollow and poor quality. They have these for sale all over VG on Riverside. Buyer beware. I realize it has been a year, but a cement statue even when left outside should last for several years. Anyone who shops at VG knows you will pay a premium. With that comes the expectation of high quality and excellent customer service. I spoke with Jessica, the CEO of Village Green about it and she had very little to say. She put the blame on us and said we should have taken it inside and they had no policy on cement statues. She made no effort to try to do anything to resolve the situation or take care of the customer. I feel they should have replaced or refunded the item, but honestly if she had just cared a little and done anything I likely would have been fine with the situation. I am pretty reasonable and it wouldn't have taken much to keep me as a customer. I was planning to buy my spring flowers while I was there but I was so disappointed with how the situation was handled...
Read moreVery disappointed with service and how John treated a miscommunication from employee. I have been a regular customer for years. I stopped in last weekend and was looking at a Japanese maple trees. It did not have a price on the tree. So I asked the employee standing there how much the tree was. He stated 249.00. I went back in a couple days to buy the tree and once up at the counter they told me it was 549.00. So I asked for a manager. John handled the situation poorly. I told him it was a younger person, tall. with light hair. He basically said he had no one that worked there that looked like that. He completely dismissed that I had talked to village green employee and never apologized. I understand that mistakes are made, but it was not handled correctly. I decided to drive to Platt hill nursery on Randall rd in carpentersville. I now have my Japanese maple and several other plants. The pricing was substantial lower and selection was amazing. It is a little bit of a drive but...
