A group of us took the kids for open skate on Sunday. The staff that checked us in and got our skates for us were quick and friendly. Unfortunately, the concession stand staff was the complete opposite. Not sure if it was the lady working the counter or if it is the Arena's policy but was unimpressed to say the least. We ordered 4 hot chocolates, a soda, and 2 nachos. We got one of the hot chocolate for a couple of 4 year olds to share...they only come in a 20 oz cup...asked for an extra cup and was told that we would be charged the full price of another hot chocolate ($2.50). If that is the case, I would suggest offering other sizes?! We then asked for a couple of ice cubes to cool down the hot chocolate (normal with kids) and was told we would be charged 75 cents for a cup of ice. I understand not wanting to give the concession stand away but this was ridiculous. To do a fun afternoon out with ice-skating and snacks isn't worth all the "extra charges" at...
Read moreTook my 1 1/2 year old granddaughter here for the very first time. While my granddaughter had a fun time, I can't help but point out as to the limitation of equipment available for such a young age. She is currently unable to handle the bigger kid area and yet I had to pay the same $7 for her to use what amounts to maybe 1/4 of the full play area. Add to that the bigger kids kept coming over to the smaller area, which interfered with her ability to enjoy her time without being crowded out many times. I mean, the older kids were nice and several did try and give her room, but that's besides the point. All in all, even though she can't verbalize her feelings yet, I sense she had a good time. I want to take her again, but I do think it's unfair to charge $7 for a child who is simply too small to utilize the...
Read moreDuring pre hockey, another boy hit my son (who is FIVE, mind you) in the head and was being aggressive, and when my son gave it back he got kicked out of the class that I paid for. Literally kicked off the ice by a teenage instructor with no conversation, warning, or explanation given. The other kid got to stay in the class, however. When I confronted this teenage instructor, he told me I’ll “learn real quick”. A completely and utterly rude comment to me to say the least, and unfair treatment to my son. This situation was poorly handled in anyone’s opinion by this terribly rude teenager who shouldn’t be working with young kids if he can’t handle the behavior that comes with young kids. They are LEARNING. So TEACH them, don’t kick them out. Especially just one of them and let the other kid...
