Walked out to the pier while playing my Mandolin, and my friend Kettle was fishing on the pier when I got out there and looked to the West and had me look to as stated my surprise it was literally 8 minutes until before it started to rain like a quick monsoon. So he said go to your car now so your Mandolin does not get soaked. I listened and walked to my Jeep and made it inside the door of my Jeep and the rain fell so hard down to Earth and I got to be dry and Kettle saved my dignity by him being a humanitarian towards me to alert me to a weather-cloud-system so powerful that, had my friend Kettle not been there out fishing this past Sunday my emotional side would have been stretched to a sadness if my Mandolin got soaked. Instead Kettle helped me greatly. Unfortunately, today he passed away at this same spot and I am with another of our friends remembering the love that a fantastic member of the human family shared with us. It was natural causes. The reason I am sharing this lengthy of a post is to say that this beach is a great place to be and live, laugh and love each other and experience pleasant memories together...
Read moreWe enjoyed our day at Loyola beach. The downsides for me are lots of stones in the sand, especially when you first get into the water, it’s all rocks. My feet feel sore! Water shoes are a good idea for this beach. We also could not find a fountain to rinse our feet, so it was hard to clean off the sand before getting back in the car. Lastly, we brought a few snacks and were swarmed with bees!! I haven’t experienced that at other beaches. I do not recommend trying to eat anything there because of the bees. On the plus side, we went on a warm Saturday afternoon and it was not too crowded! Pretty clean as well. The water was pretty shallow which was a plus for me and my kids. My 4 year old was able to stand in the water pretty far out into the lake. There is a playground and basketball court at the park as well, so over all it’s a nice place to spend...
Read moreGreat spot!! The beach is wide and usually not too crowded. It is a wonderful place to watch the sunrise. There are usually just a few folks out and about. The long painted bench is also spectacular. It is a great community art project every summer. Right next to the beach is a pier you can walk out onto to see the water and the downtown skyline. One really awesome thing is that the neighborhood is super diverse so the park is as well. There are lots of places to grill and put out a picnic spread. There is a paid parking lot on the north end of the beach. The beach is also close to some great food spots on Pratt as well...
