Heard about this restaurant opening and me and the wife gave it a try tonight. If you aren't familiar with the area, parking can be confusing. Just park in the Chase bank lot next to it - my understanding is they share the lot. We each ordered the standard "Chicago Style" gyros along with and order of fries and cheddar fries. We are gyros lovers and have eaten at many places. I have only one favorite for gyros which I have been going to since I was a child. That said, I was pleasantly surprised and this place takes a close second to my old standby! (sorry, loyalty!). Good portions sizes with the right amount of tomato, onion and tzatziki. The fries were fresh cut and tasted great. Cheddar fries had Merkts, and although I wish there was a little more on there, they were of course good. The owner gave us a sample of their greek chicken & rice soup while we waited for our order. Soup was excellent and he even threw in a complimentary bowl with our order! They have a patio outside and looks to be a fun place to sit and eat once the weather gets nicer. Overall this is a gem and I highly recommend it. I have only tried a few menu items but will happily go back again to try more. Its nice to have a local...
Read moreI walk by in the evenings and the shop is usually pretty dead but I've been curious how their food is. They have tvs for the menu above the counter, but they were turned off tonight so I had to choose from their point of sales machine. No pictures, and a lot to dig through so I went for a simple sandwich. It was a bit unnerving that they had no music playing in the restaurant either.
It seemed like the cook behind the counter was a bit inexperienced, and the man who took my order was maybe coaching him?
My gyro was ok. The pita was a bit on the small side, and the meat was a little extra toasty which is to be expected if it's a dead evening. They really loaded it up with meat, almost enough for two sandwiches, and the onions and tomatoes were fresh looking, but they forgot the tzatziki sauce! A genuine tragedy, as a good sauce can make or break a gyro. Other reviews mention the sauce so I assume it was just an honest mistake by a person still...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of discovering this tasty treasure while on a shopping excursion. We appreciated the name The Crazy Greek and decided to take a chance. We were blown away!
Between the three of us we ordered the Original Gyros bowl, the Pork Souvlaki sandwich, the Merkel cheddar and bacon fries, and the greek fries. The gryos bowl was deliciously layered with soft buttery rice, fresh and crispy salad, a touch of feta, an incredible yogurt sauce and tender well-seasoned gyros meat. The Cheddar Bacon fries are hand-cut and topped with a sharp cheddar spread and crispy bacon. The pork Souvlaki was tender and packed with flavor. As were the Greek fries, which were also hand cut and topped with feta cheese. The owner is very warm and kind. We cannot wait to...
