It use to be a pretty good place to go, I think it reached its peak in the mid 90s to the late 90s, and after all the mills started closing around Floyd County, such as Galey and Lord, Lindale Cotton Mills, Florida Tile, Church Chair, Mohawk Carpet Mills, and several others. About all Rome has now is Dr. Offices. I think Floyd County and Rome Ga. have gone down hill with the lost of manufacturing jobs in the area. That has really put a hurt on retail. To me was even more decline with after 911, then the spike in higher gas prices. And more stores closing, a lot of stores have come and went. More and more people are shopping online now. It used to be fun to go the mall. I used to really like Rome Ga. But I don't to much care for it now days. Why have they lost so many manufacturing jobs? I think that has lead to the decline of the mall. Manufacturing reached its peak in America in 1979, and declined every year since. In the 1980s the door was opened more trade. And in the 1990s Bill Clinton signed NAFTA and brought it in. And then Bill Clinton taken down the Glass Steagall Act. Then Bush band his 911. A lot of this was really brought on by the Illuminati who have been leveling the playing field to turn America into a third world country. I don't think the South was growing like it was once. They claim Floyd County has pushed a lot of these manufacturing facilities out of the area due to higher taxes. But to me Rome Ga. have went down hill mostly on all...
ย ย ย Read moreAhhh the Mount Berry Mall. To me and the kids who grew up in the Rome/Cedartown/Rockmart area, this is more than just another abandoned, slowly decaying mall. Itโs a slowing decaying one story building of memories. The first feeling of true freedom, as we ventured more than 15 minutes away from home for the first time. The first time in the back of a Spencerโs. The first time buying a Hot Topic band T-shirt. The first of many things happened at this decrepit warehouse for us small town kids.
For the outsider howeverโฆ
This is the worlds WORST mall. You get about 8 stores in total to explore. The food court has about 6 options to choose from. The building is so empty it might as well be a set for the walking dead. Seriously dude, just go to Town Center at Cobb. Itโs worth the extra drive.
Howeverโฆ the one secret benefit to going to a mall undergoing rigor-mortis isโฆ THE SALES! Every store is desperately trying to sell as much stock as possible before the inevitable collapse of the mount berry economy. I recommend Hot Topic if youโre looking for a steal and a deal. Not only will the employees salute you for shoplifting as a protest against capitalism, but there is a buy one get TWO free clearance isle. I got a pair of earrings, socks, and slippers for $10. Also the menโs bathroom soap dispenser makes a hilarious noise which is worth the...
ย ย ย Read moreI recently visited Mount Berry Mall in Rome, GA, and I have to say, it's really going downhill. The mall used to be a vibrant and bustling place, but now it feels neglected and run-down. Many of the stores are closed or empty, and the overall atmosphere is quite depressing.
The cleanliness of the mall has also deteriorated. The common areas and restrooms are not well-maintained, and it seems like the management is not putting in the effort to keep the place in good condition. The lack of upkeep is very noticeable and detracts from the shopping experience.
Additionally, the variety of stores and dining options has significantly decreased. There are fewer choices for shoppers, and the remaining stores don't seem to offer the same quality or selection as they once did. It's disappointing to see such a decline in what used to be a great shopping destination.
Overall, Mount Berry Mall is not what it used to be. The combination of closed stores, poor maintenance, and limited options makes it a less appealing place to visit. I hope the management takes steps to revitalize the mall and bring it back to its...
