Ridge Ferry Dog Park was a nice departure for my fur kids and me for a couple of hours. My girl wasn't quite sure what to do with all of those young pups so she spent most of the time just watching everyone. My boy didn't know which dog to follow around to make sure he sniffed the best places. I got to chat with other dog lovers about our favorite subject - our dogs.
The park could use more benches, a couple covered pavilions for the humans & at least 2 watering stations around the inside perimeter of the big dog enclosure to be able to handle all those thirsty pups I saw running around in the evening heat. Also, an agility course setup would be great! One of the parks where I lived in Florida had one & my dogs loved going to play & run through the course.
All-in-all the establishment of a dog park in Rome is a progressive step that has been long overdue. While it does need some improvement to keep the dogs engaged with each other & their caregivers, it appears to be on the...
Read moreMe and my husband walks about everyday 4 to 5 miles we can’t believe in the past few months how Floyd county has let this park rundown the grass has over grown the side walks down to the river there’s places it’s high the grass is knee high in some places, we can not understand how Floyd county can take all that money to build a new park when that money could go to good use to fix’s these awful roads and fix back up the parks we already have, when it comes to spending money in Floyd county somebody has no common sense , you take the baseball fields behind the levee why can’t we hold travel ball tournaments like most counties do Floyd county could be making money instead of spending money building unnecessary things like building those ridiculous tennis courts and trust me we would have never voted on that we had rather have baseball fields that does baseball and holds baseball tournaments for our...
Read morePlayground is half torn down and the other is in need of some repair. Play area is also in need of refill on mulch. It's probably still safe enough, but it's very very dirty. Your children will not stay clean playing there. Something to consider if you are going somewhere else after visiting there. Also has several picnic tables under cover, several reserveable pavilians, and an overlook of the river, however, they would need to cut down a bunch of trees to get a very good view. I'm not sure why they built it so far back from the river. Park also has some paved walking trails, which are mostly shady due to large oak trees throughout the park. There is a nature center as well, but hours aren't easy to find. I've never found it to be open and have heard from others that have been that it is pretty good, but also hard to find out when it's open. Apparently it has local wildlife...
