My wife ordered some type of combo special that had ground beef as one of the ingredients. Several times during the meal, she had to pause and cover her mouth while extracting small wooden twigs from the ground beef "special" burrito. When I picked one up to examine it, it was indeed some type of wooden twig that was roughly the density of a toothpick.
My wife told me that she couldn't eat the food and I readily agreed because it would have been the equivalent of trying to chew and swallow pieces of a toothpick. We called for the waitress who looked at the meal, took one of the twigs and proceeded to the front desk to show it to what we assume was a young female manager.
The manager sauntered from the front desk to our table and very flippantly stated that it was "just twigs from part of the bay leaves as an ingredient used with the ground beef." She then said "you can go ahead and eat it" as she sauntered away to return to the front desk. We were both stunned by her response because no customer would ever agree to swallow hardened wood twigs of that length or density whether it was part of a meal or otherwise. We did not believe for even a moment that it represented the stems of bay leaves as well. It was the most preposterous circumstance we had ever encountered at a restaurant. I asked for the bill, paid it and we left, never to return.
We've never once encountered a circumstance at a restaurant where entirely inedible objects found in our food were actually responded to by being told that it was nevertheless okay to eat them. I know of no one with common sense who would subsequently do so because of the possible risk alone, not to mention the outright ridiculous recommendation to chew and swallow small wooden sticks. We could even understand and have accepted an offer to replace the mere specific portion of food with the problem, representing a most common resolution and yet this Las Palmas manager and waitress merely walked away from the issue.
The recommendation here is to seek Mexican cuisine elsewhere due to the reckless inattention toward food preparation and the type of resolution offered by the...
Read morePretty Gross experience. I took my family to dinner last night at Las Palmas on riverside in Rome Ga. We were seated at 930, and placed our orders when we sat down.
Now the sign out front says they close at 10pm and it's a Friday night.
As I begin to wait for my food I noticed several dirty tables that were pilled with dirty dishes and no guest. This was my first red flag, I think there were a total of 7 dirty tables that sat till our food arrived at the table for us to eat in in un sanitary conditions and knowone seemed to care. Not 5 minutes into eating a few bites of my dinner.
Three waitress come out and start sweeping the carpet and dusting up particles and trash . This is 3 people swinging their brooms and spraying there chemicals on the tables and making it nasty and unsanitary for my family to enjoy our food, and with the possibility of getting sick.
Wait there is more
Ask for a manager
They send some idiot that tells us that they have to clean there section before they close.
Remember they close at 10pm and it's a Friday night so it's gonna be busy.
No respect for guest paying good money to eat here, you should close a section - Management, not sit anyone there, and then clean the section before you close.
Clearly there is a need For the owner to step in and take action, I'd start with Fireing the managers that worked last night August 19 930pm.
This is not the Waffle House I thought.... And buy...
Read moreWas able to sneak my semi into the large parking lot. So that was a plus. This place had it all. Lots if parking, curb appeal, great signage, wrap around outdoor patio. Giant bench and metal mariachi band for selfies etc.. Inside the interior design was well thought out and a lot if quality materials used and good craftsmanship. Great use of props and marketing. Menus were well laid out and legible. Colourful pictures used throughout.
Joshua was my server and provided outstanding service and some good conversation as well.
Food was very good and bonus points for going the extra mile for presentation. Everything was well cooked, the proteins, peppers and onions, rice was done perfectly, beans were great colour and flavour. Not pale and runny like some places trying to cut corners.
The chips were pretty generic, but nothing to complain about. The salsa was nice and thick and spiced with a nice kick but nothing that would ruin your taste buds for the dinner yet to come. Portions were generous and had to get a to go box. Even with my appetite I could not eat it all in one sitting. It did make for a good lunch in the truck the following day!
Washroom was exceptionally clean for a Mexican restaurant. Lol!
This place was a pretty well oiled machine. Would like to return in the future and explore more items...
