Blue Fin Restaurant — Restaurant in Rome

So I was in town for a week or so and looked these guys up on Google. I was really craving some good Asian food and I found it!

I'm a fan of steak and scallops so I ordered that and I've got to tell you I was pretty impressed with most of it. First of all the steak was obviously a great cut, very tender. I had it medium rare and these guys really nailed it. Instead of small little bits cut up as many places do, they were little larger than normal and extremely tender and tasty, so great job.

The scallops were huge! I was really surprised. I was served two huge scallops the size of silver dollars along with at least two or three smaller ones. I will say that the scallops were extremely undercooked for my taste, I'm a more well done scallop guy, so I did send the big ones back and they took care of it. Just know that if you don't like them basically only seared, you need to tell them to cook them to order .

Onto the rest of the selection. The fried rice was good, of course most of these combo hibachi dishes generally have either noodles and rice or rice and some kind of mixed vegetables, generally tossed in the sauce.

I was a little disappointed on the vegetables it was basically like a heated warm coleslaw mix, sans vinegar, primarily cabbage with some micro small shreds of carrot, not for me. My suggestion here for this establishment would be either broccoli and mushrooms with some Julianne carrots or something more substantial and appetizing than a big lump of warm cabbage.

Also you guys should put the sauce on the mixed vegetables because that ties it together with the meat and scallops. Overall the dish was tasty and the rice was good along with a decent portion of the meat and scallops .

The soup beforehand was piping hot. I really like it that way. I want my soup so hot I've got to wait a couple of minutes for it to cool down . The taste was light and subtle, flavor good .

The salad was huge compared to what you would expect. Most places serve a small salad in a small bowl. This one was pretty big, very fresh. The ginger dressing was so so, not enough bite for me, and somewhat thin, you guys should have some real ground ginger in there to spice it up and give it some body.

Overall the whole meal was pretty good considering the cost was extremely affordable. I've had this meal in many places across the country for years and I can tell you the price here was exceptionally affordable.

The ambience here, very busy on a Friday night. The server was very nice. They have a pretty large sushi bar. Since I was eating solo they did offer the bar to me but I wanted to sit at a table and it was ready fairly quickly, certainly within 5 minutes even though it was very busy.

All in all I would give this place 4 and 1/2 stars, digging them only for the weird coleslaw like cabbage " vegetable side" and the somewhat anemic salad dressing.

I give this place a rating of two stars not because of the food which I found to be easily a four or four and a half Star restaurant. I give this place two stars for the customer service which has on a couple of occasions been questionable. But on one occasion was absolutely horrible for a large party. Multiple patrons came in twos and fours we're seated after us receive their food and actually paid and left while we were still waiting. We had exhausted our 1 and 1/2 hour a lot of time before work and still have not received food. At the end of this meal and discussing with the waiter the terrible wait time and unfortunately errors in our meal when they finally arrived we were still charged the large party seating fee which totaled up over $140. When I expressed disappointment I was told that there was no way I could afford a waiter to wait for our one group. To which I responded two and a half hours and earn $140 cash I think that I would do that any day of the week if I was a smart person. I left the restaurant disappointed in the service and that was a few years ago to that point I had been a regular customer of twice to three times a week. When I realized that a bad event happens occasionally this was simply the one that made me decide not to support this type of customer service. I may not close the restaurant down but I will tell you my story. And I don't support the place I don't believe in with my hard-earned money. And yes contacting the owner and management made no difference as no one wanted to take any responsibility for such a terrible evening in your restaurant. Very disappointed we ordered the steak and shrimp hibachi rice meal. Said no vegetables double rice. Clear as day on the receipt, I received the total opposite then when he went to the restaurant to at least get it fixed or get the rice we payed for. He was told that they don't refund and that once the food leave the store it's not their problem because the food could've been swapped out for anything lmao how could we swap out piping hot food when it's the same way it was giving to us. The only thing that was different was that the bag was ripped opened because we were ready to eat it lol if it was McDonald's or anything fast food less than 10 bucks (even then they'd replace it) we wouldn't too much be as upset as we are now with having to lose out over 45 bucks because of the lack of accountability and lack of integrity the restaurant has !! I will NEVER order again from them and will make sure I spread the word, here, there or anywhere. I will be making a post on all social media platforms as well with the pictures of the order and receipt beside it showing the discrepancy !! We will be reporting to the BBB and anyone else just because of how we feel robbed out of our money and no resolution at all !! Very disappointed ! Just taking ppl money and not having a care in the world about it ! God don't like ugly and I've seen him move mountains even in ways ppl would never imagine !
