Horseshoe Lake Recreation Complex — Attraction in Roxbury Township

Traveling from New England to PA with two boys 6/8; had to find a place to let them stretch their legs. My wife google searched playgrounds and we were directed to this amazing complex. It has sand volleyball courts, basketball courts, tracks for running/walking, soccer fields, baseball fields, football fields, a lake area with beach, bathrooms, and of course the playground. Bathrooms were clean. The complex grounds were well kept and clean, no visible litter at all during our visit. Tracks are long and scenic which makes for a wonderful experience while running/walking. Plenty of parking available. The playground/castle had both of our boys at the edge of their seats as soon as we pulled up. Once they made it on to the actual playground, they were in, according to them, "the best place ever!" The playground has a large foot print which accommodates children of different ages. It has separate sections for younger kids to play safely apart from older kids that can sometimes be too rough. The layout was well planned keeping parents in mind. I enjoy a playground where I am able to get on some of the structures and bond with my boys. It makes for a better experience for them rather than just sitting and watching them. There was plenty of seating for parents as well. One entrance/exit only to the playground which is a big plus. I did not have to worry about my kids running out through another access point. The Imagination Station playground is a great experience and memory that my family will have for a long time. I wish they could build these at all the rest stops. Horseshoe Lake is a great time and fun no matter what time you go or whatever your going for. From the beautiful walking track that surrounds the amazing lake. You’ll notice as you walk around the entire park there is so much to offer. The park is kept up and kept safe by Roxbury’s Parks & Recreation Dept as well as the Roxbury Police always monitoring the park. The lake is magnificent, especially when you take the time to walk around it . Especially in the am you can see the sun coming up as it reflects off the lake. The water is so calm and welcoming. All the rave for the young ones is Imagination Station. Just rebuild ( 7 ) years ago the kids just love it. I think some of the parents have also enjoyed themselves a time or two.

Horseshoe Park is an absolute gem in our town! From the enchanting Castle Park that sparks our imagination to the fantastic football fields that make playing football a blast, there's something for everyone.
