I love Hollywood Market on Main Street in Royal Oak. Just walking in you feel like you are in a family owned shop. Each Dept takes pride in itself. The produce department is always stocked well. The slightly old or damaged produce is in a clearance area, which I always check when I am in the store. They are always available to help.
The dairy area is next, with great choices of organic milks and non organic of every type. The same is true of yogurts, cheese and butters too. Plenty of choices of cold juices, prepacked lunch meats, sausages, Bacon's, hams and Amish raised chicken. There is always someone stocking in this area to ask a question.
The deli supplies top end meats, cheeses and excellent sides. Their ribs are always fall off the bone and really well priced! From super healthy salads to decadent Mac n cheese they know how to satisfy everyone. I love the people in this department. They are always, laughing, friendly and working hard.
The meat Dept is top notch, excellent choices and perfect cuts. The butchers and assistants are so great. They know their meats and fish and more than a few times have given me advice on cooking something when asked. I always smile when I am at that counter. They make me feel very positive and just happy to be there. No question is dismissed. I have not had a butcher that I have valued this much since I was a child in the Upper Peninsula.
The shelves and freezers are always stocked well and very clean. No errant carts around the store and they stock the shelves during non-business hours to keep aisles open for customers. The sales ads are good and there is always a great deal. When I moved to Royal Oak from the Lansing area and first shopped at Hollywood I was unsure about shopping regularly there. The prices are slightly higher than a Meijer or Kroger and you don't always have the vast selection. So I used to pick up the bulk of items at Meijer and pick up the last minute things at Hollywood. Now it is the opposite. When you think about all the time spent hunting for your items at another store without a employee. In site, buying items that you don't need and the endless time spent trying to checkout. I have come to the conclusion that I save money shopping at Hollywood.
The checkout lines at Hollywood are always fast and the women and men who assist you are the best in the business. There are times that I have considered inviting them over. Plus, they have baggers. I love to see that teenagers are able to find a job, not only teenagers but seniors who just haven't stopped working yet!
The BEST thing about Hollywood Market is, without a doubt the employees. Always friendly and knowledgeable. Whoever does the hiring really knows their business and customers well. The people they hire work hard for their paychecks but appear to have a work environment that is incredibly positive and family like. They actually seem happy at work.
I have give a large amount of credit to the managers. They work an ungodly amount of hours, attend look tired but are always helpful. They are not "office" managers. They are on the floor working and assisting. Even when they are in the "office", it is a small cubicle in the front of the store, so you see them and can ask them questions.
Thank you Hollywood Market for making a "small town store feel", in my...
Read moreThis place has become horrible. There was water dripping through the ceiling into the produce today. They tried to put out buckets but there was still nasty water dripping through the ceiling onto food. The selection here well, there is no selection here. The deli now closes at six again basically when the rest of the world gets off. If you don’t have enough staff to manage then open a little later and stay open so the people who have freaking jobs can shop during the week. They call themselves a local grocery, yet it’s kind of tough to find local products here. They used to carry them but now they’re store brand it out of Massachusetts or something they got rid of the Michigan brand. Please just close down so we can level the place and build a real grocery store maybe we can get a Publix up here.
After your response about the deli, I see you’ve rolled the hours back from 6 to 5 now. Come on guys, it’s time to just close the doors and let somebody else take a try.
So when I went in today, seven people standing up front doing nothing but the deli close to half hour ago? Still two people back in the deli oh yeah and there were three people behind the meat counter doing nothing. This isn’t about not being able to find staff this is about understanding how to properly Use your staff. I come from a retail background this is poor management and...
Read moreUpdate: Pricing on some products is more expensive than Holiday Market and you guys need to cut the price or start using some normal size rottieseire chicken if you selling for $8.99! Training oppurtunites: two of your male cashier's either always have a bad attitude or barely address you at the register. Used the new u scan and he brown hair guy was just hovering two feet away... strangely said nothing. Redhead guy always on his flip phone texting when your at the register and has a rather defensive attitude.. if your gonna improve the looks of the store also address those complaints with lower priced rottieseire and better mannered cashiers..
Always a great experience they know how to train their staff to be courteous and helpful. During the pandemic never seen anybody in the store without a mask which is super rare but it's up to the store to make sure that stuffs up to par and they...
